Tire Warning

Tire Warning system came on a few days ago but all my tires seem fine. It’s the first time my car has been in sub teen temps. Could that be it? Is there a way to reset it without going to the dealer?

That's weird.

Now does anyone know if the ML63 has an active or passive tire pressure monitoring system? (active=individual sensors on valve stem of each wheel, passive=flat tire determined by ABS sensors on each wheel by measuring relative rotational speeds)

Depending on what type of system is in the car, it could either be a defective sensor or a simple reset/re-initialization of a passive system.

Mine went off too last week ..Took two go rounds in two days to get it right...I think it monitors differences not actual pressure...you must get all of them equal...I Think..thats the system.go back with a good pressure gauge and you will see one is low. Then you have to drive a few minutes for the light to go out..

If you look in the owners manual it shows a picture on the display of the car with the specific tire pressure displayed at each wheel, though it does say for the Canadian version of the car. Do you think they would actually have different systems in US versions? Is it a law in Canada to display the tire pressures?

I'm in Canada and I can't seem to get it to show individual pressures. Just that the run flat indicator is active. I should admit I never looked in the manual though.

Same situation for me last week.... First time for the car to be in extended extremely cold temps but the tires looked fine to the eye. Took car to gas station's air pump w/ gauge and indeed, the tires were low on air pressure. Added air so tires at mnfr pressure recommendations and dash light went off. Car has been fine since.

Same thing for me the PSI on all 4 tires were 30 PSI. The inside the door is says 41 rear and 36 up front. They were way low, and now the light went off.

Which means that the tires are measured on rotational spin. If they all lose the same amount of air pressure the system doesn't recognize it as a failure! This was the biggest problem that I had with my BMW's! I had air pressure of 16lbs in my Z8 and the system didn't say anything, and because they are run flats you wouldn't have noticed it until you ran the hell out of it. Individual monitors are by far the way to go.
