service miles
I brought my ml63 in to the shop because the check engine light was on, went off, and then did it again. I got the car back 2 days later with 11 miles on it... is that normal?

11 miles is kinda boderline excessive for diagnostic test drives, but depending on what you problem is it may not be so. You should go back and have an audit with the service guy on the 11 miles.
I had brought mine in on occasional noisey brakes, they did a 10km test loop, but I was told beforehand that they are going to take an extended test loop to confirm the noise and told me before they went out that the cause most likely is a glazed pad and during the test drive the tech will and did do heavy breaking to wear off the glaze.
My ML is driven mostly by my wife and extended light braking do increase the chance for glazed pads.

sorry zack
My comment about the salt wasn't directed at you Zack. It was a reference to a similar comment I made in another thread. It was about another, shall we say, disingenuous reply by the same member to another legitimate question.
