I was in the market for a ML63 but I just dont understand why the ML63 leases are around $1600++

Priced at about 15K more than my equiped GL, but the lease is nearly double?? Anyone know if I was mis-quoted on the ML63 at more than $1600 for a 39 month lease? 5K down.

Thanks

I believe lease amounts are calculated using original cost less residual value to get the amount of "use" you are paying for. This is divided by the term of the lease with interest on everything thrown in. In other words the predicted future value of the ML at 39 months is not very good. The GL will probably have a higher residual value at 39 months as a percentage of its original cost. So you are paying for less "use" over the 39 months. Factor in the lower original cost and you get a lot less expensive monthly lease payment.

Some private leasing companies may offer leases based upon interest alone, but I suspect they will want a large down payment, and large monthly payments so the residual value will be very low. A vehicle like this can be expensive to lease! So buy it and keep it.

This is probably too much but you didn't specify equipment. You should be able to be closer to $1500 including tax with half that down. Kokanee's comments are all correct and MB is also heavily subventing R and GL leases. Given you drive a Ferrari - a car that can never be bought at list - you already understand however that MB will make as many GL's as they get orders for, but only 800 ML63's

Thanks guys.
I didn't know only 800 were made. The dealer tried to tell me to buy it as well since leasing this vehicle is higher than other vehicles in comparable price. I only drive vehicles for about 3 years or less so leasing is usually the better option.

In comparison to the Porsche Cayenne, the Porsche is leasing out over 2K for the Turbo. The dealer told me that most buy it as well.

I think you need a new dealer. My '04 CTT was under !500 incl tax no money down 36 months. Residuals have certainly dropped and interest rates are higher but 2k is crazy. See ifa leftover CTTS suits you. Those can be had at truly crazy prices.

800 per year?
Are there really only 800 per year? Is that US, or North America, or World wide? Limitation due to demand or supply? Explains why I've ony seen one other so far.
