Ml63 1 SRT8 1

That was fun..
I beat him the first time, and he beat me the second time.
On the way home, I realized that my floor mat was under my gas pedal the whole time So iI never really floored it completely.

Oh well, theres always next time..

SgtStanko, good times

Good times Blue!! The first runs before you arrived, I had been running 8.44...when you and I ran I made the fatal mistake of not leaving it in "D" and pulled it in 1st....it hit redline and the limiter and nosed over twice...1-2nd...2nd to 3rd thats when I could see you gain ....so we have

First round
ML63 60'-2.035/330'-5.599/ 1/8-8.54@83.86
Jeep 60'-1.921/ 330'-5.525/ 1/8-8.56@81.19

2nd round
ML63 60'-2.150/ 330'-5.787/ 1/8-8.824@76.09
Jeep 60'1.912/ 330'- 5.47/ 1/8-8.452@82.76.....this time in "D"!! I let HAL do the shifting!

Next JEEP run was 60'-1.87/ 330'-5.45 / 1/8-8.44@82.39

I do believe the Jeep is quicker than the ML63 BUT I must admit the 1/4 would probably be a different story and i would think after 100 or so the ML will overtake the Jeep.

We always have Fontana next Saturday

Again, had a good time.....we'll get them together again next time.

Thanks guys! It's refreshing to see a little mature competition. None of the juvenile back and forth I see so often in these type of threads.

They're each great vehicles, and you're deserving ambassadors for both.

Congrats!

Blue Monster:

Pretty impressive times (not joking at all). The SRT8's gearing and lower weight really give it an advantage at launch. However, the Powerchip flash seems to have really helped the ML63 regain ground at an alarming rate (alarming at least for SRT8 owners). Considering how the ML63 closed the gap from 330' to the 1/8 mile (comparing the best runs of the night), and the higher ending trap speed, the 1/4 mile would be won by the ML63. You guys should duke it out over the full 1/4 mile.

BTW...next time take out the floor mat....

Tom

1/4 mile sounds like a plan. I might just make it out to Fontana next weekend . And Definitely, take the floor mats out this time
These two cars are so close. Its the perfect matchup, with the 1/8th mile advantage going to the Jeeps.
Fastest reported 1/4 for the ML is 13 flat. I hope I can break high 12s.

Sorry I couldn't make it out guys!!!

Looks like you had some nice cars! VERY nice times!!!

Stanko, in regards to tuning the SRT8's I don't think Powerchip will be able to. They only handle Bosch and Siemens ECU's. I will do some research and will try to fnd a tuner. I hope to have some info soon.

The ECU is Siemens.....this is a morphed German/American vehicle.

Blue monster.... do you have larger rims/tires on your ML63? (thought you had 22" wheels) If so, I would think that your acceleration would definately suffer at least a little bit... just a thought.

I have to agree. The last time I ran my car, it had stock 20" AMGs on it, and I was able to get an 8.9@81 MPH..This was before the Powerchip tuning. Now I have 22" wheels with 40 lbs of pressure in them... and I still managed to get an 8.5

Considering all the circumstances, I am very happy with the software, and the difference it has made to my truck.

BTW... Dont quote me on this, but I do believe my 22" HRE wheels are actually lighter than the stock 20s. They are the only 22s you can do without sacrificing performance.

Blue Monster:

Even if your wheels are lighter they still could hinder performance. The taller wheel and tire (not sure of your exact aspect ratio ...sidewall) would act like a taller axle ratio.

The overall diameter on these 22s with a 30 series tire is the same as the stock 40 series tire. The tire is .3 inches shorter than stock. Thats pretty close

Wow...pretty low profile.... with the less weight (less rotational mass) and shorter diameter...they may actually make your ML63 faster!!!

BTW...the HRE's look great...I even had to go back and see if you posted any up close pics (which I found). What a great looking SUV!!! Although, I think my black SRT8 looks meaner!
