Has anyone here installed a Escort ZR3 Laser shifter or a BLINDER set up on their ML63?
If so did you mount it behind the mesh grille? Did this hamper with the performance?

I have an older escort laser shifter on a work truck. They like to mount it by the license plate. I believe it must be mounter exactly where the police aim the laser or it wont work. The police need a flat spot to aim at to get a signal back. Im not sure if behind the grill would be ideal. I should be getting one installed in a few weeks and can ask the installer here your question. It may be to late to help though.

I have had about 4 of the Escorts ZR3 Shifter systems but all have been mounted with no grill in front of them. I was looking at the ML's front grille and I would have to mount it behind the mesh grille by the looks of it.

Just wondering if anyone has done this.

Blinders need to have a clear 'view' of the road ahead and it is imperative that they be installed level and parallel to one another. I cut a single plastic support out of the grill and each outter edge of the emitter protrudes maybe 1/2" beyond the grill. If the 63 has brake air inlets on the lower facia, that would work too (a bit too low) but they still must protrude so the beam can properly spread out and up to protect.

I found this link to an installation. I know it says it needs a CLEAR VIEW but it looks like this could work just as good.

I have done alot of SR7 Plus installs and put the Shifters behind mesh with no issues. I think they print clearview in the installation manual so guys do not install them behind solid plastic
