Seems to me that the RS6 isn't really the same type of vehicle. The E55 stationwagon would be comparable I guess. Except for the all wheel drive.
The RS6 should be much more car like. It certainly doesn't enter the equation in my books.
The X5 M version is certainly interesting. If and when they ever make it. BMW will only make it if they feel they can move enough units to make it profitable. I still think the ML will be faster with equal handling and brakes. It comes down to money and which you like the looks of better. In Canada the current X5 already tops out within 2k of the ML63. Its performance is adequate for many but not in the same league.

im also was aiming @ ml63 for next spring ( lease is due) but after reading about new RS6 I just dont know, Rs6 engine will have crazy tuning potential and i love HP 
plus its AWD thats what i Need here in Canada

the x5 m is probably the biggest threat to the ml63. it will be interesting to see what engine they put in it. the new rs6 wagon is sure to be much more expensive than the ml63 when it comes (the s6 is already 100k), and its power to weight ratio is no better than the old rs6, even with 580hp. its sure to have the power, but with that weight the handling is surely in question

Earlier this year I thought about getting a S8 or a S6, I almost pulled the trigger until I found out the residual for them, after 3 years it's 42% and 41% !!!!!
I asked why is the resale so low when a AMG or a BMW M cars have 55%-60%.
The reply was that people don't lease Audis, they buy them and keep them for a long time. :0 Riiiiiight, they are forced to keep them because they don't wanna get KILLED when they trade it in.
I told him I am coming back in 3 years to get one at 42% of retail.

What I find
My friend bought a new in 2001 S8, fully loaded, awesome car. I think it has like 60k miles on it. Its worth less then $23k. The car IMO is in perfect condition and he is having a hard time selling it.
