i'm considering having my ecu and the kleemann headers done ,they promising an increase of an extra 50hp ,is that increase worth that kind of money? would that 50hp make a noticable difference? in terms of acceleration? and on the drag strip?

$8000 for 50hp, hmm if it was on your SLK55, I would totally do it, from 350hp to 400hp. But the ML63 already has 500hp and that 50hp is only like 10%, barely noticable imo.

yea just find a decent ECU chip it will run you 1000-2000 bux it should give you at least 20-30 hp and just wait for some other less of a brand company to make headers for ML63.... I just dont understand why the **** companies like Kleemann and renntech want 3 to 4000 bux for a piece of metal?!!?! Why headers for Vettes cost 1500 to 2000 max? Same freaking V8 same freaking material... Why should a mercedes owners overpay! Headers for 997tt is less although the car costs 40% more epxensive or so. PLain bull****.

also delete all resonators and filters. I think it worth it... the car will drive much better.

chip + headers + exhaust without any filters and etc gives atmo cars huge power increase. (i see examples of bmw m5&m6 and etc.)

and probably you will have the fastest ml63

ps received mine ml63 today... so... it is a rocket !

No need to spend that for 50hp. You might want to check in to a supercharger instead plus You will enjoy your F430.

hey guys ,yes that price is quite alot ,probably got to do with the exchange rate (euros) and our currency here in SA isnt that great ,wish there was someone on here that had that conversion done on there ML63

Honestly, I would save the money and work on the basic modifications that acheive some slight gains and dont hurt the wallet as much.

Remove the Charcol filters, Add 2 drop in filters ie K&N,Green's or BMC's, Sprintbooster perhaps, Remove resonator and replace it with an X pipe and bypass the two secondary mufflers.

but power is not only hp! also... torque....
with headers it will drive much better after 100km/h. If you need speed at high revs - buy it.

If your last check bounces when you die you win! Its only money. If you have the money and enjoy the vehicle then do it. I haven't done the headers but chiping it is worthwile. Maybe Veloce has a reasonably priced ECU upgrade for the 63?

do the ecu and forget the headers. the ecu makes it feel much sportier and removes all the limiters etc

i had custom made headers for my hot rod plus jet-hot coating on top of that for $1100 bucks installed. the guy that did mine also fabricates for nascar as well as SS headers for exotics, ferrari, porsche ect......

Wow 8000 for 50hp is crazy.

Purely for comparison, 500 dollars gets my 1.8t 50hp / 80torque. While 8000 dollars would put me at around the 400-480whp mark haha.

While I totally agree with you but when you think about it from a different view point, these are AMG's, and people who drive them must be rich, so rip-offs go hand in hand with owning these vehicles.

With less than $3000, I's managed to extract another 100whp from my beater STI, what does that mean? Different markets, different marketing strategies.
