Sold my ML63
Mine was sprintboosted, lowered and I have so many great memories of its awesome performance and great driveability. I covered just over 20,000 miles in mine and yet it felt as fresh as the day we collected it. Thankfully I sold it to another enthusiast, who was blown away when I showed him how it drove. He bought it on the spot, without a moment's hesitation.
I was amazed how frugal the 6.2 litre engine proved to be (averaging 19 imperial mpg on longer journeys) which is better than my X5 4.8is used to manage, and yet with over 150 more bhp in the ML. It was totally reliable, with not a moment's concern throughout its time with us and it always impressed whenever I drove it.
I'm going to miss its 6.2 V8 which rates as one of my favorite engines every built, but I will have the chance to drive them again as I now move fully into the automotive publishing world and launch my own title. Any of you who are familiar with the UK press will know Autocar and EVO magazines, and the writers Chris Harris, Richard Meaden and Jethro Bovingdon. Well you'll soon see them in a new publication and I look forward to writing something nice about the facelifted ML63. It's hard to picture how MB could have improved it, but it will be fun to find out.
I'll keep checking back on MBWorld to see how you're enjoying yours and remind me of my own Affalterbach rocket.
