Brake Noise

Anyone else have continuous brake squealing on their 63? I approached the stealer and their answer was, "no asbestos".

I've always had that problem from day one.

I Asked the dealer, he told me it was dirt in the brakes!!
I live on a dirt road!!!!

ps. had car for 12mths now, 5 flat tyres including the space saver once.
I'm so glad i brought that 5th tyre, its a shame i dont have any room for alot for luggage.

Oh, it's definitely your dirt roads! I am sure they used that excuse too. What a bunch of morons. I mean, does the stealer actually think that we are just wallets walking around with no brains and will accept anything they say?

My brakes are also noisy from Day 1, I just chalked it up as quirks of a supercar, which the ML63 clearly is.

my 63 brakes squeel on and off, sometimes they dont at all soon after startup, sometimes they dont when they are 'warm'. Other times they squeel all day long. I dont get it and find it very surprising. Dealer told me that after 1000km or so the brakes would bed in and not squeel, then i was told its because there was no asbestos - guess that means every other car must still have asbestos in the brakes cause my xar squeels like a ***** pig - for me its a bit of a disgrace to have a beautiful car that squeels like some dodgy old heap of ****. we can put a man on the moon but cant make brakes that dont squeel - give me a break

Definitely. It drives me nuts. I love pulling up to a light in a 90K+ car and having everyone look at you like, wow, what a piece of crap!

drive faster stop harder.

Mine squeal very little. I do tend to drive it like I stole it and the odd little squeak I hear goes away with a few good stops. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. Try running it up to 70mph and stomp on the brakes once or twice. It may just help a bit. These brakes are so big the rotors are often cool after some sedate city driving where average cars would be really hot. Seems like these brakes need to be worked a bit.

Squeeky Brakes

The brakes have squeeled/squeaked from day 1 on both my previous '04 E55 AMG as well as my current '07 ML63 AMG. I have given up asking the Dealer to attempt to fix them since it always comes back..... (WTF?) It was worse on the E55 but still rather disconcerting at the least and rather embarrasing when making a "grand entrance" in front of friends and business associates. The snide comments about the break squeals are starting to get old, especially from my die-hard BMW owner friends...

Do all AMG's have this problem?

All of mine do, the ML55 and the C32. Some guys have said EBCs or Akebonos stop the problem and some have also gone with cryo rotors, although I am not sure how they would help the squeal. Apparently, a LOT of stock AMGs have squealers.

Dont forget that most dealers will replace rotors and pads (in Canada anyway) before the two years, 40k km expires if you go in complaining of noisy brakes. This is speaking from experience.

Mine is only a 50K+ car but I feel the same way. It's embarrassing.

My story is nearly identical to AVB-AMG... The squeak is unavoidable... I even tried the "burn-in" process several times on my E55... It worked for a day or so then the squeal came back. At least the brake squeal is more managable on the ML63. My E55 was horrible! (not a peep yet from my new SL550... it's nice and quiet for a change)
