K & N or Other Air Filters for ML63-I want more vroom!

Any advice on 3rd party cold air intake or air filters for 2007 ML63 that will boost HP or enhance the engine vroom noise? How do I get more of a rumble in teh engine than exist now easily. I heard about K & N but I dont think they make one for the car? Any suggestions?

No suggestions for a CAI, but here's a link to a thread for a simple method to get back a few HP and let the engine breathe a little easier.

How did you make out? The second filter is coming tomorrow for the beast. I will put both of them in then. Wondering if you noticed anything different?

Took out the charcoal filters on ML63-Now check engine light is on.

I took out the charcoal filters. There is a noticable improvement in acceleration, and it was an easy modification. But my Check Engine light appeared on the second day. I have not checked it out with the mechanic yet to see if the cause is related. It is still under warranty. Any thoughts?

Changing the filters should not void any warranty. If it changes the air mass flow, it may trip the light.

check engine light?

so if taking the charcoal filters out tripped the light, will it continue to do so if I have the light reset? Do I have to put them back?

Thanks for the advice.

Not sure. Didn't think they would have an effect either way.

Any resolution?? Try removing the negative terminal for a few minutes to see if the light goes out. Maybe it has to reset the Mass Airflow???

So I am back and no service lights. Not sure I got more of anything out of the filters. Will wait till tomorrow. See if I see a better highway response.

Down 2 MPG? Do you mean up? Are you getting better gas mileage? Hopefully you are going from 12 to 14 in the city after the new air filters? If so that is better than 15% improvement.

I am averaging about 11 according to my computer and I am driving around in sports mode (full-time)
