snow tire and rim question..in canada.
hi guys,
I live in Canada, the snow could coming between 1-2 month, i just called my dealer for a 2007 ml amg snow tire quote, its whoooping $6550.. so I am going to buy online, maybe at tiretrends.com(canadian web site).
I just search the forum about snow tire in the ml amg section, I found this wolfgang's ml winter tire page:
http://www.whnet.com/4x4/wintertires.html
I am planning to get the [Pirelli Scorpion Ice&Snow
285/45 R19 107 V snow traction rated (for ML63 AMG)]
unfortunately their [tiretrends.com] vehicle search has no mercedes ml amg, but they do have the tire in stock. now I have no idea what to get for the rim? I love cars, but I am an idiot in mechanics, I know nothing....
so if anyone would suggest me an rim that would be great!
or even a better tire.
also, Canadian guys, where do you buy you winter tires? and after you buy it, where do you bring it to insatll it? just any garage would do it?
Thanks everyone, really appreciate any help

Go to www.tirerack.com and buy some pirelli scorpion ice and snow. Mount them on your stock wheels and off you go. That is what I am running and it was great last winter.
Any Tire shop will install them.

thanks Jo!
I think I will just do that, I just search some online retailer, a lot of them don't have 20" snow tire in stock, and us dollar is too expensive now.
I am sticking to 1010tires.com, they have two tires that I like,
Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 - 295/40R20 XL 110 V - BW $420.99
Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow - 295/40R20 XL V 110 RBL $344.99 canadian dollar
still debating now...um..

I got the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snows in the OEM size for my 09 ML63, 295/35 by 21. But I'm in California and will only use them in our few winter months for ski trips in the mountains on usually well-plowed highways and secondary roads. I got them from Tire Rack.

Just had our first real dump here in Vancouver, and want to confirm that the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow are handling fantastic. We've had about 5-10 cm here and expecting another 5-15 through the day into tonight. I have now worries about getting home

30" snow on scorpions.
30 inches here and I can say the ML63 with the Pirelli scorps (on stock 20" rims) was impressive. I absolutely couldnt get the RDX with Bridgestone Blizzacks out the driveway but the ML had no problems with the raised height. The traction control is rather impressive on sheet ice as well! Depending upon your location but there are some great places to buy tires in Vancouver.
