Some posters are bad mouthing the 2007 and not giving specifics as to why, Many of these members dont own the ML63 themselves. They criticize the ML 63 for being made in America. My understanding is that the ML63 was actually the only ML made in Germany. Can I get a confirmation?

I love mine, I prefer the body styling to the newer models 2008 & 2009. I think it is more stylish and I bought mine for around $50000 from its previous owner instead of $95,000 plus new. I think it was an incredible value for the world's fastest SUV (0-100).

I think ALL ML's regardless of designation (can you say designation for the "numbers?") are built in America (Alabama.) The window sticker said something about being assembled in Alabama, with some parts coming from Germany.

I've also never had any issues besides regular maintenance with my ML63, which is an '07.

ML 63 "AMG"
Suggest that you checking the vehicle identification sticker on the door jam. The country of origin is clearly visable assembled in Alabama. However, I would suspect that the engine was hand-built in Germany.

However, interesting question, which requires further research.

I also, have a 2008 ML63 and it is my 3rd ML, but first 63. It is a great vehicle. The styling and ride are above approach, but withstanding the typical mechanical problems with any vehicle.

Enjoy the Ride -----in an ML63.

07... 30,000 miles... no problems at all... awesome vehicle.

As I understand it, all AMG specific parts, hand built engine, suspension, brakes and anything else AMG comes from Afalterbach, Germany... but it is all assembled in Alabama with the regular ML's.

I wouldn't be afraid of an '07. As with all forums, the happy majority is usually silent.

Hi! I wanted to ask you when was your engine pinging, under a hard acceleration or normal driving. Also, how did the dealer fix the problem, because I have 08 with the same issue. Thanks.

My engine would ping only once it had warmed up, typically under acceleration from 1000 - 3000 rpm and always worse when going up an incline. i only ever used premium fuel. Went to dealer and they plugged the car in, saw that something was not quite right made an adjustment and problem solved. They had to fix it twice about 11 months apart.

just to calrify, it didnt ned to be hard acceleration either, but was worse when engine was under strain like going up a hill. I am not sure of the preceise adjusment but they were able to alter the software apparently at the dealership.

I have been following the ML63s ever since I sold my E55. I am divided between ML63, C63 and even the new w212 E63. I loved the E55, but I hated the lack of AWD in Finlands snowy climate. So the ML63 is AWD, but I am not sure I need a SUV, and I hated the steering wheel gearlever and huge consumption. Then again I liked the C63, but it has no Airmatic and the seats were uncomfortable. I wonder what the w212 will be like? Why dont they just build a 4matic E63, it would solve all my problems...

Anyway, back to the point. I have heard a lot of complaint from friends about the ML in general, but actually NO complaints about faults in ML63's. So they seem pretty solid.
