2001 Ml55 purchase advice
Ok,
I have a 2000 CLK430 that I have had for about 5 yrs and know how expensive it is to maintain and I just came off a $4000 service on the car. Love the car and love Mercedes and have an opportunity to get a 2001 ML 55 with 130K miles. The price is $9500 and think I can get it down. It is a 2 owner car and in great shape. My question is how reliable are these and due to the mileage should I stay away from it or if in really good shape and maintained well which it appears should I be interested?
I have never drive the ml55 by the way and would be nice to get into an amg for less than $10K. Would love to hear from those that have the car and your thoughts.

I think the 00-01 ml55 had some issues and I believe they were fixed in the 02-03 ML's. My brother has and 02 ml55 and that thing can move and I love driving it. He's had it since 80k and now has around 130k and all he's had done was the idler pulley/belt along with maintenance items like spark plugs, transmission flush, and coolant flush. I know they cats fail on these trucks, but have a 10 year warranty.

I would not recommend it, I love the power etc...but I would try to find a 02-03 if possible. Every repair/part costs twice as much (or more) than it's non AMG brethren. I KNOW, I have a BOOK of receipts.

im also in the market lookin at a 2001 with 90k miles for 8600 but i know hell take 8k cash . The question will he take 6500 lol .. It comes with service records clean carfax and the it was my wifes since 26k miles story ..
That green one looks ok except i could never rock that green . Also who knows what issues that thing has .. B good to test drive and take to indi mech and see whats up with it if your thinkin of buying it !!

8k and under 100K miles is great.
I am not a huge fan of the green. I really want to find one from a private seller as I know the dealers just pick these up at auctions and flip them and the ones that are cheap am sure are abused and need work.
Will keep my eyes out as I am in no rush.

Be ready to spend money on brakes, tires and motor mounts. I drive mine very hard and have to replace brakes and motor mounts once a year. The truck is tons of fun and very fast. Triple check the service history and I don't recommend getting from a dealership.
