2013 ML63

Hi all,

I just got delivery of 2013 ML63. It is such a great truck.

I have an questions. While I drive over little bump, I feel knock from steering wheel. The amplitude is small and I barely hear the knock but I can feel it through my hands. I went to dealer to check and shop foreman says it is due to electric steering. I thought it is more to stabilizer link or steering rack. Does anyone have simlilar issue? I am thinking bring the truck to other dealer which is about 50 miles away where I used to live 5 years ago.

Or could be vibration from lane tracking, if you're swerving even just a bit...

Picked up my new ML 63 as well, there is no knock in my steering wheel. On my way to work I have to ride over speed bumps and I have not felt anything of the sort.

No knock here either with my 2013 at 1100 miles.
Break in is done running in sport now most of the time, much more responsive.
Car is gonna be real hard on the new snow tires, hope they last till April.

Just got home from Picking mine up. I drove it hard thru Bankhead National Forest and never felt anything but the vibration when banking the lanes. Nothing like 550HP to make Christmas better.

And oh my gosh, night vision is really neat but it might be a little distracting. Especially when meeting a bright light car.

Congratulations to all of you on your new MLs! Care to post more pics for those of us still waiting for ours to arrive? :-) Thanks Rabtech for posting a picture! :-)). Did any of you drive a C63 previously? As I am curious to know how it compares.

I have a 2007 ml63 . I can tell you that the new ml even with the extra 32 ponies seems slower off the line than the old one. I am going to try to get some video in a week or so of them running side by side. However once up to 70 the twin turbos seem to pull hard. It may all be an illusion. The new one may eat the 07 for lunch. But the "seat of the pants" dyno says different.

I had a 2012 C63 coupe all summer.

They are sooo different ! The C63 is so much more visceral. More sound, more launch, more feel. It doesn't start it "comes to life" It has a bad boy attitude and just makes you want to play.

The ML63 is an SUV and you never forget that. That said it is a big fast car with many capabilities and practicalities. It does not respond the same and is not as fun to drive as a sports car. But, I can drive and enjoy it year round, go anywhere, tow things, and enjoy a level of comfort and performance that is amazing.

But I still want another C63 coupe next summer !

Merry Christmas

Thanks! Have both of you put the ML63 into:
1) Sport+ on the suspension setting and then
2) Manual or Sport on the transmission and then
3) ESP off?

That is if the ML63 you are driving has passed the breaking in period.

With all the high technology and more powerful computers in the vehicles these days, I would also not put it beyond the manufacturer to limit torque in the early miles till the car has passed the recommended break in period.

Merry Christmas to you all!

I haven't yet. I break one in like I am going to drive it. I mean I dont kill it but I dont baby one either. I actually believe it may be limited in some way during the first few miles. However it isn't limited on its top end. I have hit 150 already. Also, has anybody noticed how bad the burning plastic smell is after you shut off the engine and the cooling fans are running. I'm sure its just new and it will go away. But right now it smells like a bag of burning asses.

Now that break in is done I constantly drive with trans. in sport and suspension in sport. It is winter here and with snows on turning off traction just means wheelspin, all 4 all the time. In the snow I drive it in manual almost all the time with the traction on, I like engine braking. The turbo engine does not hit like the normally aspirated engine. I have had several c's,mls,sl's with the unboosted engine and I LOVE displacement. That said on boost the turbos torque is an addicting pleasure and it is more efficient. I got 16.5mpg this weekend a new high for me.
