However, when paired with a good tune all of those figures change. With a proper tune the off-road downpipes make more horsepower than the street legal downpipes. Both sets of downpipes, however, make more horsepower when coupled with a proper tune.
With all that being said. The off-road downpipes are very loud on an ML63 and if you are planning to install them without a tune they will also trigger a check engine light for cat inefficiency readings. The street-legal downpipes will not trigger a check engine light.

On a stock vehicle the street-legal downpipes make 14 horsepower from just installing the downpipes. This is peak horsepower however. At points under the curve the street-legal downpipes make over 20 horsepower over the stock downpipes. Now these figures are on a stock vehicle with no other modifications. The street-legal downpipes actually make more than the off-road downpipes.

I agree, same.
If I cannot get a concrete response I may just modify the OEM downpipes and put HJS 300cell metal core high flow cats in place of the stock units since mine ar slowly reaching the end of their life.
