Eurocharged V4 Tune Upgrade Review ...

Hey Guys,

Finally had the opportunity to upgrade my V3 tune to V4 tune of Eurocharge's 6.3L AMG software, and I must say I am completely blown away!

Power: Power remains relatively the same, you aren't going to see a jump in power. The Power does ramp up more smoothly at 2500rpm, where as before it was almost like an on/off switch. Power on top end feels the same, if there is a gain it would have to be less than 5HP b/c I cannot really feel any difference. That's not the main reason of the V4 upgrade. Its the TRANSMISSION!

Transmission: This is where the V4 tune really shines in my opinion. It genuinely feels like I just rebuilt the internals on my transmission. Not only does the transmission shift incredibly fast for an auto, but its almost smoother as well. The overall refinement of the transmission operation is quite staggering, and most importantly of all daily cruising around town in comfort mode has become much more enjoyable. I always felt the stock transmission was very clunky under certain driving conditions, but now, the car feels even better than new. I had the opportunity to drive the new Jaguar F-Type V8S that has the new ZF 8speed auto (best auto on planet earth)... and I must say it is as close to that transmission as any Auto will ever be able to get. For those who haven't driven the Jag that is VERY high praise. I just wish the benz auto 7speed has a much taller 7th gear (Jag spins 1500rpm in 8th gear at 70mph )

The biggest improvement is in the shift speeds, and the actual shift points in rpms. Whatever lag or delay there was in shifting (even under light throttle/load) has now been completely erased and the transmission feels much more athletic. In doing so, the whole car feels more spirited and lively on its feet. It feels more like a sports car now than ever before

Overview: I am truly blown away that all of this improvement came from an ENGINE ECU upgrade and the TCU did not have to be touched in any way. It almost makes it seem like there is no point in doing the TCU (unless you want downshift throttle blip rev matching... working on it). Other then that, this is more than 99% of people will need.

If you have not done an engine ECU upgrade, or already have but would like to upgrade transmission performance, I HIGHLY recommend the Eurocharged V4 tune!

Just AFE pro dry filters, resonator bypass, and 90lbs of rotating unsprung mass reduced (forgestar wheels, DWS tires, 2-piece racing brake rotors F&R).

All combine to completely transform the car into something all together different

In regards to the resonator bypass, did you remove them and just put in straight pipes or put in an x pipe? I was planning on going x.

Straight pipes because I wanted to retain the amazing AMG character sounds. If you do an X pipe, yes you will make some more power but you will take away much of the exhausts character and it won't sound as unique IMO. I chose strait pipes knowing full well I was leaving some power on the table, but I did not care.

Straight pipes are cheaper & easier too. Replaced with 3" stainless steel pipe and round bar for the exhaust hangers

Does this tune by chance, include the throttle blip on downshift?

How do we get that on our ML's?

No it does not, the upgrade for throttle blipping is 1500 euro and is not part of the tune.

thanks,

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

The 1500 Euro, does that include the V4 tune?
