Well it's not as popular as other forums as there aren't as many of this model around vs the other AMGs and also less people interested in modding their trucks vs say a C63

It is dead. I used this forum a lot as a source a few months back when I was research a used ML63. There wasn't too many responses. Nothing compared to when I used the C-Class forum to buy my C-Class some years ago.
Well anyway, after a long shipping and clearing process (it came from the UK, to Tanzania - East Africa), she's finally out! Going to put some plates on her and will post some pics up soon.
There may be a few of us, but "less is more", so we're plenty.

Dead ML63
It was a great truck while it lasted. So its not the forum that died for me but rather the car. Catastrophic engine failure at less than 85k miles. Perhaps the early ML63 drivers have had a similar experience to me. Perhaps this is why MB has decided to discontinue the 63 engine.

You ain't kidding. I posted a simple question. 52 Views today and not a single reply.
Anyway, I fixed it myself...![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
Accidentally set it up in off road mode. Owners manual does not address the indicator operation for AMG, only regular ML's

I believe the issue is with MB World in general. The 190E section is dead-er than this one and nobody replied to me last month when I was in the hunt for a SLK.
Both of these have huge specific sites outside of MB world so I wonder if there is such a thing for our ML's.

Agree. It's a bummer. Having just come from the 'Cayenne world', the Forums are very different worlds. Perhaps it's a good thing (in a way), as many, many Cayenne posts are problem related...

I don't see why there is a combined ml55 and ml63 forum. These 2 vehicles share absolutely nothing in common, besides the two letters m and l.
complete different chassis, motors, transmissions, everything is vastly different, you might as well throw in some sedans here, they'd probably have more in common. why not the 166 also?

Reached 30K in the beast (2010 W164) after a 500 roundrip yesterday! The more I drive her the better she feels. Cruise control at 95mph on the endless straights of FL feels like cruising at 45mph. The truck feels so composed, so solid between 90-100mph that it is ALMOST boring! If it wasn't for the looks one gets from startled drivers in SC Range Rovers
when they see the little (in comparison) "soccer mom" ride storm by on their left lane. Or around them if necessary.
For what is worth, IMO, the reason MB is walking away from the real 63's is the result of tighter environmental regulations (CAFE) which forces manufacturers to reduce their average impact across their lineups. The new AMG engines respond to these demands by being more efficient while delivering higher performance figures.
One day we will look back at the original C63's, ML63's, CLKBS's, SLS's and think: "boy those were fun times!".
For now I'm sticking to my simple, naturally aspirated, thirsty and wonderfully loud AMG 6.208 Liter heart.
(Photo taken yesterday in one of those " fuel efficient only" parking spots. Fckoff Prius!!)

warranty just expired
I am going to see if by some chance MB will help. Im 2 months over the extended warranty but under the milage. They chased an intermittent problem for about 4 years. It caused the truck to loose power off and on as in 500hp, 0 hp, 500hp, 0 hp etc. It did this about 50 times over the 4 years. Very hard to find it would seem. They did sensors, software etc etc in the dozens of visits to the shop.
The most violent thing you can imagine with a drivetrain. It took out the transmission and spun the torque converter in its housing. All that was under warranty I had a feeling the motor would go next
.
Either MB can't build a reliable engine or the 4 years of torture killed it. If so they should fix it. They did the head bolts a few months before detonation and the valves sounded terrible on the last service before death (while under warranty )
If they don't help Ill start a new thread and use the ML for advertising with a big explanation sign on my business property (500k cars pass by each year).
If I could figure out how to post a video I would. A bucking bronco with chirping summer performance radials. And hey they only want $85 k for a new engine!!!!

Yup, from previous experiences on other forums (Audi, Land Rover) this one is pretty slow. But like a few have said, this is a rare car so not a lot of people willing to mod or looking for forums to do DIY stuff.
It's up to us to change that!
