Lowering the ML63 and Ride Quality
I see a lot of lowering kits for sale but how is the ride affected?
My 2007 sits too high, clearance is unnecessarily high, and my wife and other short folk have to drop to get out of it. I'd like to lower it 50mm or so but do not want to harshen the ride as it drives perfectly now. Anyone found a way to keep ride quality while lowering the air suspension? I also want to keep sport mode too for faster driving so I can enjoy tight suspension on demand - just lower

I lowered mine with links..although different year than yours. Of course anytime you take away from the suspension you lose ride quality but I find very acceptable..and I have 21's
Sport+ is downright taunt tho..!!

I have a set of ghost links for w164 ml63 for sale if you wish to lower you ml for little. $$.
I run the renntech lowering module. It is programmable for lower stance parked or below a mph.... Then stock height driving. Best of both worlds imo.
Agree a very aggressively lowered air matic rides like a hoopty. Unless that is your goal $

I lowered my w166 ml63 with one of these modules and honestly my car doesn't feel like a suv anymore...even in C mode but again the Vath settings are a little more hardcore I believe

I love the ride and am not willing to lose it. It'd look so much better lowered and it'd help short people get in and out (I'm 6ft so no problem for me) - but it seems to me the harsh ride is not worth it.
If the air suspension craps out - then I could retro fit a lowered coil over setup with spring rates and dampening to suit whatever ride height... or retro bag it lol

Does the module firm up the suspension as well, i have looked at both the lowering module and the lowering links but cant find any info on either as far as pros and cons.

I am less than impressed with the way the car now handles, in sport + it has become extremely bouncy and unstable at speed.

So i installed the Lorinser lowering kit a week ago...its insane one of the Best investment i ever made for my ml63.
I have a new menu on the screen where you can do at least 50 settings...
The ride can be very comfy or very stiff by lowering 40mm
The AMG beast remains very stable at any speed now:-)

Is this for the lorinser lowering module? I tried to find it on their website with no luck. Not sure if its the same, but this was the module I was looking to get http://loweringmodule.com/index.php/...ingmodule.html
I have an appointment for my ML63 to go into the shop in a couple weeks to get lowering links installed. Ill see how I like them and go from there. For me, justifying $200 vs $2000 was a very easy decision.

If you care that much about my opinion, then by all means go ahead.
Lowering an SUV (and most cars, for that matter) kills the ride quality, decreases practicality, makes DIY work harder due to less clearance, and increases chances of damage to the car from road debris. Not to mention it makes the car look like ****. But by all means, go for that "it's stance, bro" look. You'll impress a ton of teenagers, no doubt. Might I also suggest a splash of chrome and some spinners?

To each is own bud, if people want to change the look of their vehicle than let it be. No one here said anything about lowering it so much that it scrapes. Some people like myself just don't like so much gap. My ml63 has been lowered for quite some time and yes the ride quality has suffered a little bit, but overall I love it more. So do I care that you're taking it to the extreme with adding spinners, and chrome (which btw the ml63 does have quite a bit of chrome as is) no I really don't. Not one bit.

I have a lowered 08 ML63. Found it when I wasn't even looking for something to buy. All told my c55 has been a rock but I grew tired of feeling cramped. About the only thing I've noticed regarding ride quality is that I prefer the comfort ride height vs. sport. Even at the comfort settings it's on the low side. I like the look and love the ride. I don't get jarred going down DeKalb Ave like I did in my c55.
I've been learning the ins and outs since I've had it for 2 weeks. The planets aligned just right for the purchase and I couldn't be more happy.
