I can definitely see valve cover replacements in my future as well. The magnesium intake manifold on mine was significantly corroded and a couple of broken bolt attachment points, and I can't imagine the valve covers being any better.

Yeah I was surprised to find a hairline crack in the magnesium cover. While I don’t think it was leaking from that point it was probably going to happen. And I wasn’t sure if the plastic one had any cracks, so it was easier to just say “screw it” and start with two new ones. 😂
So the ML didn’t see much usage this winter but with the streets finally getting cleaned here in Massachusetts (they’re still worse than third world countries roads though…) I decided to give her a bath using the foam cannon. Then gave the Supersprint exhaust tips a clean up as well. 👍
@Joshinator99 This thread is amazing! Seeing the love given back to these awesome machines is incredible. Keep up the good work. Wish I was there with you tinkering around on the ML.
One of the garage door openers needed replacement, so the ML63 and her garage stablemates got some fresh New England fall air! Plus, it kept them out of harms way from the service tech swinging tools around…!
So after selling the house and moving to Southern NH, my ML got a lot of duty helping us make the move. While we had a moving company, they weren’t exactly amazing lol, so the wife and I made a number of runs moving random stuff ourselves. I’d load up the Expedition and she would load up the ML. Since this was in the middle of January, the ML saw a ton of snow and seriously bitter cold weather! It had been pretty much a garage queen since I bought it two years ago so I didn’t know what to expect. I’m happy to report she ran like a champ and didn’t protest too much.
I did have one brief worry… my wife mentioned that the driver display showed the passenger side rear plate light out. When you cleared that message, it then told you the drivers side was out as well. I began to worry if the rear SAM saw some water, since the car has been outside a lot lately. But I crossed my fingers and hoped that maybe it really was as simple as a bad plate light bulb. So I bought two new bulbs. Before changing them out, I verified that one was actually out but the other one wasn’t…?!? So I swapped out the two old bulbs anyway and installed the new bulbs. Both light up perfectly and the error messages are gone! Thanking my lucky stars that I was out of it for 10 minutes of work and a $7 pack of bulbs.
