FS: Valentine One Radar Detector

I bought it 4 years ago and this is the V1.7 one, which is a bit thicker than the current model one. I am selling it for 350 firm. I know you can get the current model for 400++ but I after I did a research, that's what is worth.
Here is the Serial Number: 3232390403

I doubt you can own something for 4 years and only take such a little hit. But good luck with your sale.

The 299 is for the upgrade, not for the unit. You have to have the old unit to get that. That isn't the price of the unit, but $350 is still high for a 4 year old one.

You might be able to sell it on ebay for that price but not here.

Most people already know that you can call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and they will get 10% off the retail price of $399. It will be the latest version V1.8 POP2 w/ Euro-mode and 3.858 firmware and that comes with all the accessories and a 1 year warranty.

300 is still too expensive, consider that it's 4 years old already
and if you spend like 250 on other brand, might just out perform the cureent v1 you have
and it cost 300 to upgrade it.

be honest, i prob won't even pay 200 for that unit

Agreed. If you want to get $300.00 dollars for a 1.7, then eBay is your best bet. For those on this site, going through Valentine 1 and asking for the 10% off is a great deal.

Just remember it cost an extra 230 to upgrade this thing to the latest software. If you sell it for 300-350, it really isn't worth it as a new one is 400+. People are lookin for a bargin on these classifieds. Not pay retail..... Good luck with the sale...

Not really, because I sold my 4 year old V1 on ebay for $365 when I bought it for $399 brand new. So it basically cost me $10 a year for the best radar/laser detector and to remain ticket free.

Escort has already stated that the radar detection of the 9500i has not been improved over the 8500 X50 so you are paying all that money for bells and whistles.

I sold one of those on eBay a while ago and got more than I thought for it too. It was cheaper to sell the one I had and by an new one than send mine in for an update.

What bells and whistles?
Seems more like you're paying a lot more for a good idea with a lot of short commings.

The GPS seems like a great idea, but if I recall correctly GPS is not 100% accurate.

I believe GPS are accurate enough to tell you where you are within an error margin of a few feet to a few hundred feet. There are a lot of factor involved in GPS accuracy.

I had a few questions that I had written to Escort Technical service department which I felt were not great answers or no answer at all.

How many way points can this new escort detector store?
After all thier "TrueLock" feature would have to store location information (call waypoints in GPS lingo) and its associated frequency information somewhere for future use when passing the location again. Escort nerver answered this question. And how do "we" the enduser manage all these waypoints effectively. There is no software that can currently link with the new detector unit.

Which brought up the other "feature" :
USB Port: Initially the USB port will allow the user to store and update marked locations of speed traps into their computer and will also allow users to share their information. Escort says that they also plan on offering “marked locations” to users so they can download a larger database. This USB port can also be used to do diagnostic testing and updating the firmware, however they will not commit to a time frame when this feature will be activated.

This stuff is still in developement. It is not there yet. When will it be?????
Will they offer software to link with the detector??? Again how much memory can the unit hold???? How user friendly will the feature be???

I have a bunch of other technical questions but I think the service rep ansewring these question are NOT technical experts, or who knows why they can't answer.

How does all this GPS stuff effect the speed operation rate of the detector?
Will it take the detector longer to go through all the memory to determine if this is a false signal???? After all it needs to know all the location already marked and do analisys on current condition. Current location current radar signal being captured against what it has stored.

This GPS idea is great but still in it's infancy.
Wait a little longer and hopefully Escort will work out it's shortcommings.
Perhaps then I "might" think about Escort's Passport 9500i. Till then it is not worthwhile to me.

My 2cents.
