Escort 9500ix hardwire install here
Since having my new ML63 for a week it is time for some goodies..I did have the 9500ix temp wired to cig outlet but that's not a permanent solution so here's what I opted for..
1- pry tool and invisicord cable (12") http://www.invisicord.com/index.html
2- insert at this point and push inward..do not pry...cover will release and swing down/pivot from front allowing access to wiring
3- I opted for a full time power as I dislike how the detector powers up at every start...on the 9500ix you can program it to power itself down after 4 hours of no motion or if I wish for extended sleep I'll just turn it off
The larger black plug on the right has fulltime power for the main interior lights...red wire with black tracer is power (red to invisicord)and brown next to it is ground (green invisicord). The invisicord tabs slide right into the plug and secure nicely with friction. I used a hacksaw blade to chase the invisicord wire from the windshield mount location up under the headliner to the plug
Relocate console back into position and press back to latch...done
I also got ambitious and installed my iphone5 cradle...perfect !!

For power read the text betewen the photos note 3 above...a credit card may work..a spackle knife also...just remember to insert in the middle then push in at 45 degress angle toward the front of the vehicle and the console will release...ask for any more if needed

Do you have the lane tracking package on your ML63? If so, does K band go off a lot? I have a ML550 with the lane package and tried to mount my 9500ix on and it kept going off like crazy! I called my dealership and they told me its because lane tracking package uses k band and the radar does pick it up...

I used this http://fix2car.com/active-fix2car-ph...lder-iphone-5/ unit 60201 and used 3m double sided tape to the surface right next to temp control knob and chased wire under side of console shroud to back console power outlet..

I used the cam cable and cut the cig lighter end off and added a pair of ends cut off an invisicord and plugged in along side the 9500ix tabs

Never did Evo...I know where she worked but decided to just let it pass...I did leave her a pic of her in the action under her wiper so she knew I saw her...dunno her issue..

so is the RED and BROWN power switched? I have 9500ix as well but I want it to turn off as soon as I turn off my car, will that work?

This power source is not switched..you will have to try another source like garage door switch in the mirror base.

that's what I was afraid of... I'm still hunting for that switched power.
on your setup, does it turn the unit on when you start the car or do you have to manually switch it on too?
in the GL forum, someone tapped into the RED and BROWN cable and they claimed it's switched power.. could it be different in the ML vs GL?

I couldn't find an inviscord that works on my 2012 ML. (I wanted it to be switched power) I ended up running a power thru A Pillar all the way down behind the cigarette lighter and tap the power there. Pain in the butt but it works

The invisicord works as per my initial post/pics with a 9500ix..the 9500ix has an option so it turns itself off with no action in a certain amount of time,,(if I recall correctly..that was some time ago I had it installed and have since switched to a BEL STiR+) hardwired to the rear seat power outlet in the rear facing console

The 9500ix uses so little power that unless left sitting for days will not disable the battery even if left on..
