Long time motorhead and automotive engineer gets a Benz
Hello! MickeyMack here and I've just purchased a 2008 Mercedes CLK550 Cabriolet with 125,000 miles. It's black (040) with a beige (805) interior. The car has the AMG body (772) package and sports suspension (486 package).
I found an old 4th generation iPod on Ebay for $30 to plug into the 31 pin connector I found between the transmission hump and the passenger seat.
I have 6 CD's stuffed in the changer and Mercedes kindly switched the Sirius satellite radio back on for a trial run when the title changed ownership (kind of "Big Brother" creepy)
I absolutely love this car and I've put 2000 miles on it in 2 months.
I've changed fluids (Not the transmission yet, but my research shows me that this needs done ASAP) new plugs air and cabin filters.
I've replaced the front control arms, tie rod ends and sway bar links, along with the leather shifter boot.
During the suspension rebuild, I screwed up the leveling sensor arm position and cause my car to lose all self confidence, as the Bi-xenon headlights would only look straight at the ground just in front of the bumper.
It was this forum that helped me to solve the headlight aim predicament, THANK YOU! You don't smell bacon cooking when you sit in this car. The light colored seats don't get as hot as dark colored seats This is as it looked the day I bought it
The level sensor arm must be near horizontal, with the "knee" toward the front of the car.
Raising this level sensor arm makes the headlight adjust higher.
I took care to get the clamp back on the wear mark left by 11 years of squeeze.
I am new here. I just took over a 2014 ML 350 Bluetec from my father in law. While he does take his cars in for proper service, he never cleans a damn thing. He literally carried dirt, woof chips and tree branches in the back of it. I have had a ok detailing done, but an in depth one may be in order. I am new to Mercedes, coming from a Toyota Highlander. I am in Toronto with my BMW driving wife and twin teen daughters.
New member here! Just wanted to say hello to all the enthusiasts here.
I now own a pine green 1974 450 SL that has been in our family since 1994. Dad bought it at an auction but he rarely drove it. It's been garaged kept since 1994.
She's about to hit 177,000 miles and so far I have done the following to her:
-Exterior and interior detail
-Installed new red Koni shocks that I bought from tirerack.
-New rear swaybar rods (Left one was loose and hitting back of rear wheel at times when driving...lol)
-All fluids and oil change done
-New interstate battery from Costco
-New air filter
-New spark plugs,cap, and rotor
-Installed new Alpine bluetooth CD player w/ usb charger port
-New Audison front speakers
*Future goodies
New softop
New Wheels & tires
Happy to be part of this community.
Peace and chicken grease.
JJ

Hi, First MB for me, I'll take some pics when the weather improves. 2016 E 400 Sedan in Diamond White. Beautiful car, we replaced our older Infiniti with it and I'm hoping that it is reasonably reliable. I just changed the plugs, i'll post that process in the forum. I'm pretty handy, owned several interesting vehicles and I like to tinker.

Just picked up this classic and looking to freshen the old girl up and put a little more pep in her step. New the MB world, but have been around VW's and Audi's for the past 15 years.
Hi, GotQi here from Sunny California. Looking forward to learn from other owners of our beloved cars on how to maintain and maybe do some minor repair, too.
Cheers!
