Welcome New Members
My wife and I are in the process of buying a 2007 G55... it's her "must have" car.
It has 76K miles and seems to run great when we test drove it.
I've attached links to two pictures that concern us about the front axel.... maybe it's not a big deal but we don't really know either.

It is supposed to go into the shop at Mercedes for a pre-purchase inspection but I was wondering about experiences from the group to compare to what the "experts" have to say.
Thanks and we are really looking forward to owning this G55. Will post pictures if everything checks out

The symptoms of a drive axle leak are very clear. For straight axle vehicles, the backing plate for the brakes will have fluid draining on, or from behind it. If the leak has entered the drum brake assembly, the brakes may not function with the expected amount of stopping force. Leaks may also develop from the bottom of the differential cover, or input shaft seal. Both of those leaks will develop a drop from the bottom of the differential housing. For CV axles, the leak is easy to spot, as axle grease will coat everything around the torn boot. If the transmission or differential output seal is leaking, the axles may sling that fluid around the wheel wheel and undercarriage while driving.
Can I drive with a bad drive axle?
Driving with an axle leak is not particularly dangerous or hazardous to the vehicle, except in the case that the brakes are not performing properly due to fluid contamination. Vehicles with braking issues should not be driven. Concern should be taken for how long a component has been leaking. If the leak has continued long enough, the leaking component may be in danger of mechanical failure. If any mechanical noises are heard from the transmission or differentials, the vehicle should be inspected as soon as possible.
Make sure they check your front differential please let me know what the issue was a i like keeping track issues

I have 2004r w211 E320CDI Sedan car, with some troubles, as all of them probably. In my country it's popular if you have any issue with your car all the "specialists" are sending you for the SD 😜. I believe, most of the issues are possible to be fixed when you are determinated and you have a basic set of the tools. Hope I will find the way how to fix my rear SAM module and some other problems (but they are tiny in the comparison of battery drain). Nice to meet you all!! 😁

As a 2006 ML500 owner these past four years, I am finally upgrading her with an M156 powered W212, I just need to find the right one as it'll be a cherished occasional ride and a long term investment.
No doubt I'll see some of you over in the E63 forum in the not too distant future.
Cheers,
Graham

Postdude20 here from southern Indiana, USA. Bought wife a 2017 GLC 300 4 matic last summer and we love it. I was reading some of the other threads, and have a question, what does CPO mean?

which is original equipment and does not work. The unit doesn’t have slots to remove the radio so I need to learn how to access the mounting screws.

Last month I bought my first Merc. A 2017 E 400 4matic coupe with 17k miles. I am in love. This car is fantastic and everything I hoped it would be. I caught the MB bug when I took a trip to Florida and rented an AMG C63 S. That thing was bonkers. But it didn't matter. I had to have a 2 door Merc. Looking forward to what this group has to share.
