1st time MB owner. E320. Wishing greetings to all.
Very grateful to be able to connect with fellow MB owners.
A little about me (or moreover, the E320)
- 2001
- Base
- 145k km
- 3rd owner
- No leaks from transmission, coolant, or engine
- All electrical components and mechanical components seem to be in working condition
- 16" stock rims
My preferences with the vehicle:
I will run it as close to stock as possible. Tints are planned for the future. I won't drop the ride height. Largest rims I'd go for are 17"s.
Items that require immediate attention:
FL wheel: 1 bolt is stuck. According to mechanic its bent as well as the rim
RR wheel: All 5 bolts are stuck. According to mechanic the rim bent as well.
Possible solution: Drill bolts, cut rim, put on new rims and wheels.
What I'm doing about it right now:
About to purchase three wheels tomorrow (16s, matching my stock rims). Have already located tires, or will use my 16" summer tires from my alternate vehicle.
The biggest issue at the moment:
Two coil springs, one in the front, the other in the back are broken. According to mechanic they will have to be replaced immediately so they do not tear and stab my wheels.
Questions that I have:
1. Where and what coil springs are the best for the 01 e320?
2. What are components should be replaced with it?
ie. coil shims? coil pads?
3. What am I missing, in terms of, what items are required to replace coils.
I have a reliable mechanic. But I happen to live in Edmonton, AB in Canada, where parts for an 01 MB are hard to find. I am able to have my folks receive and forward me parts from KS, USA.
Any help and guidance will be surely appreciated.
Cheers,
if u want to keep ride height the same, then u have to get OEM springs...
if u don't mind lowering the car, then there are aftermarket springs...
your mechanic should've told you if you need any other components after inspecting your vehicle...
