Welcome to MBWorld. Squealing in the engine area? Could be you need a belt replacement. Or squealing when braking? Or something else?

You may be low on steering fluid.

Squealing isn't caused by low fluid. That would be some kind of groaning noise (bad). Squealing could be a belt (not nearly as bad - until it breaks. Get it fixed soon)

It's the belt that drives the power steering pump, sounds like. It really won't fix itself. Any decent shop can replace it, doesn't have to go to a dealer.

Good luck !
