C43 estate
UK Forum Newbie +C43

Hi,

Been lurking for far too long having owned 3 x 204 350CDI’s over the past decade, that between them covered > 350k miles up and down the UK.

I was also fortunate to find and run an SL300 of 107 vintage during this time ... and whereas with the 350’s you get to your destination, in the SL you arrived ... a car I miss for the dry summer months.

I now commute far less so have finally been able to scratch the AMG itch in the form of a 2017 C43 estate I pick on Friday ... an ex dealer car so really well equipped including the AMG Performance seats ... looking forward to learning about this new car, its character and what it has under the hood ... and maybe I will release some extra ponnies thanks to the experts at GAD Tuning who have unleashed my 350’s in the past ...

All the best ...

C43 estate
A little over a week of ownership and what an impressive car the C43 is ... my C350’s had been mapped so I was used to strong acceleration but this thing in stock tune is still a step up ... even more impressive is the braking capacity, just a shame the rear calipers are so ‘ugly’ ... I’m now starting to explore the amazing grip the 4matic offers ...

Very happy with the choice, also happy with the first mod which was to dump the red belts in favour of classic black ... much nicer feel to the whole interior!

Black belts massively (IMO) improve the interior looks ....

And gave the outside a quick going over with Poor Boys Black hole polish for dark paintwork ... gives a lovely wet look finish

C43 estate
Approaching 5 months and the AMG continues to impress. And now to add to the usability, I’ve hunted down a set of C43 18” alloys and fitted winter tyres and its as sure footed as you’d expect.

For those not in the know (like me when I started looking for winter wheels), pay attention to the offsets for the C43 ... and do note that 205 C63 alloys DO NOT FIT, and non 4matic wheels will not sit correctly as the offsets are all wrong. HTH.

Black out updates ....

As the C43 came with the night package I’ve continued the theme and gradually over my ownership worked my way through a chrome delete activity ...

First I changed out the tailgate blades for OEM black ... some might ask why keep them at all on black? I’m keeping them because Ive waited so long to own an AMG and I’m proud to where that badge, I simply want the car to be more subtle Qcar than in your face ...

I ran with the rear star still chrome for a while, but when I wrapped the bar across the tailgate I then plasti-dipped the star and now all is black

My next wrapping activity was to cover the chrome tops to the door handles ... I chose to wrap in situ however if you wish it is possible to remove the handles with relative ease.

So with the rear and side done, I wrapped the bars to the front grill ... well that was the intention, because as I was doing the bars in the grill I started putting off cuts of the vinyl over the diamond pattern to the grill ... 3 hours later I’d wrapped the whole grill!!!

Here are some photos of the results ... I wouldn’t change the rear or sides, but as my C43 has the full assist pack the star in the grill cannot be wrapped ... so at the moment I’m thinking I may unwrap the bars and leave the diamond pattern in black .... thoughts and ideas welcomed ....

Question to those more informed than me ... does anyone know if its possible to remove the silver ‘belt bars’ in the Performance seats? I’m thinking to wrap these but would prefer to remove if they pop off in some way ...
