Ive been a long time Mercedes owner but I just recently got my 2008 CL550 back from the Feds. Yes, the Feds. I bought it in November 2017 and they impounded it December 2017. It only has 50k on the miles and has the AMG package. Over the years I contacted them about getting it back and never heard anything. Since I have not been charged with anything I told myself this was the year I would take them to court if I didnt get it back. I called them the first week of October and they told me to come get it. When I got to the impound lot there sat my baby, I wanted to cry. The back window was cracked, I guess it lost programming. The windshield has a very long crack in it. I was just happy to have it back. I work at a car dealership so I had our tow company come and pick it up because after sitting almost four years I didnt want to run bad gas through it. Got it back to the shop and it needed a new battery and fuel pump. So far I havent found anything else wrong with it, its being inspected by our mechanic as we speak. Im trying to get her back on the road but Im so worried things are going to start breaking because its been sitting so long. Im really looking forward to the restoration process, I have about $5,000 I can dump into it right now. I really want to do a facelift and change the wheels. The tint is peeling off because its so old at this point. Will post pictures soon.

They were both on it when I bought it. As you can see I didn’t even have time to buy a tag before they came and got it. I assume that came from the factory since it has the AMG trim but I plan on debadging it anyways.

CL cars are really nice. What type of wheel are you planning?
But we are all still wondering why it was impounded!
What do you do at the dealer?
I do titles and answer phones. Occasionally I service write if they need me to but I don’t like doing it. As far as the wheels go, I like these but I think changing the grille will be my first move.
That's a good looking, simple wheel Black barrel too to hide the brake dust The grill too? Is it OEM or aftermarket? That's rad you work at a dealer, maybe get good deals on parts and labor anyway I'd hope. Of course these days, everyone has their hand out huh?
