New AMG owner saying hi!
Hello MB World
Just wanted to take a moment to say hi and introduce myself. I had a chance to drive a gorgeous and mint condition 2009 ML 63 AMG today and was pleasantly surprised at how well this truck had aged. It has many, if not all, of the creature comforts of my new Expedition Limited despite being 12 years older! It felt as solid as tank, no rust or corrosion, and still looks like a million bucks. Given that the wife has a new Mustang GT 5.0, which isn’t exactly winter weather material, we needed another AWD vehicle. Plus I wanted something that could tow my 1230 HP Camaro SS to the drag strip in a pinch as well. But we wanted something safe and solid, and this AMG delivers! Oh, and 503 HP never hurt either.
Best,
Josh

Welcome Josh! Reach out to me for any questions with your new Mercedes. I work at a dealer here in the Northeast and do my best to help people out with questions on part numbers, part availability and remove & installs possibly. That towing combo is just perfect lol.
I've got a W166 ML63 so welcome to the suv club haha

I’m hoping I never need the MB for towing as I’ve got the Expedition, but since it’s a Ford I never know when it will break down LMAO! I’ve had it for two years and the wiper transmission just up and quit during a rain storm while doing 80 MPH on the Mass Pike. Then the power running boards went berserk and I nearly broke my ankle on it trying to step out. It’s a cool truck…I’m just realistic about its build quality.

Thanks! I couldn’t believe how clean it is for a 2009. I guess the previous owner did a paint correction and professional ceramic coat in March of this year. Plus new tires on the 21” wheels, new air struts up front, new compressor, and some other odds/ends. It spent most of its life in South Carolina and Florida so the undercarriage is spotless. Fingers crossed I picked a good one. It’s been a while since I’ve bought a used car so I’m a little nervous haha!

That said, the AMG definitely hustles for a big girl! 👍

So, GREAT news on the potential head bolt & follower issues! The engine was updated and both the new style head bolts and new followers were installed (SLS followers if I understood correctly…? Feel free to correct me haha) so it’s my understanding I should have pretty clear sailing with this rig! 🍻
It’s WAY too much for the street haha…I almost never drive it anymore. But I do have a boost controller that allows me to cut as much boost out as I want. When I’m on the street I generally run ~800 WHP. At the track, full kill, is 1059 WHP (1230 at the crank). She does 9.48 @ 150 MPH in the quarter mile. 👍

Yeah Acton Auto Boutique has some amazing cars there. Great showroom and nice service shop too. One of the best car buying experiences I’ve ever had…and I’m not young lol. 👍
