I got my 81 300D in 2017 passed down from my grandmother, it was it grandfather's final big purchase before his death in the fall of 81, and I drove it for a while until life circumstances and some transmission/shifting issues led to it gathering dust in the garage for the past 5 and a half years. Just went through a rough breakup, so now I'm spending the summer learning how to restore it. She's still got good bones and a good engine, just needs some tweaks to the vacuum system, maybe a transmission (or Manny swap), a few switches replaced, some upholstery work, a drain flush and refill service and... you know... all the things an old benz that's sat for half a decade needs. And I'm sure more problems will show up as I'm working on her.
Anyways, tonight I'm clearing her out from everything thats built up over the last 5 years, and checking fluids and wires for rodent damage. Looking forward to chatting with classic and modern benz enthusiasts alike. This is my 300D in her glory days And... this is where shes sat for 5 years around the time she got parked.
