Walnut Keypad Cover


Just replaced the keypad cover on my S550 with the walnut version. Not only does it look better, it feels better too. Worth considering.

S550 / S430 / E320
Came from the dealer - S600 part. The newer S600's have the walnut
keypad. Need to make sure you order the right color since the base will be
silver, beige or black. 10 minutes to install - Open center storage
compartment. Pop the keypad by inserting a small screwdriver in the whole in
the front of the keypad housing (on the compartment side). Remove the wire
from the keypad. Remove the large torx screw in the middle of the keypad
housing. Replace housing with new part and reassemble keypad.

They have the wood to match the wood in the vehicle. I had mune replace a while ago to match the Black Piano from my 030 package.

Aren't you glad you didn't get this piece of wood. Looks like a human face in the middle of this piece (at least it does to me). I found this picture while browsing through the S600s for sale on eBay.

Yikes! I had to go and check my rear armrest to check they were no wood spirits trapped inside... luckily MB exorcised them before I got my car...

(We are obviously suffering from a bad case of pareidolia)

Makes you wonder if anyone noticed it at the factory. This reminds me of looking for animals and things in the cloud formations. But this one stood out like a sore thumb to me.It may be the ghost of Karl Benz! Looks almost demonic. Even the nose is highly defined and you can see the left ear very clearly too. Orbital bone structure is clearly seen too. EEK

I'm sure the face isn't visible without the flash. I must say I am very pleased with the wood in the 08 S. Not only with the look, but also the alignment. Had a 220 where the door and the dash didn't line up correctly on the driver's side and it really bothered me. This one is perfect. When the walnut keypad cover came, it matched a lot better than I expected. Couldn't be happier with it and it feels so much nicer than the standard one. Coupled with the wood steering wheel, makes the car feel much more luxurious to drive.

Agreed, all of the cars I've owned in the past 10 years never had woodgrain as nice as the W221.

That face could have went away if only MBUSA offered RES for the S-Class.
