Adding HUD or Night View Plus after buying car?
Quick question about my 2015 S63... the only two options it does not feature that I really want are HUD and Night View Plus. Does anyone know if either can be added by my dealer or another company but completely OEM? Does HUD have to be activated in the software or it just active once the equipment is there, and what would that involve a whole new dashboard or just the piece that sits under the windshield?
Night View Plus I am guessing would be more complex but has anyone been able to do either and know approximately what the cost would be?

It can be retrofitted, albeit very costly and invasive. Dealer will say impossible but it is possible.
I'd contact MBenzNL in the Netherlands about logistics and pricing (he also sells whole kits). I've gotten OEM retrofits from him in the past and he's the king of information regarding this type of thing.

Night vision is very involved as it includes getting a new windshield along with new headlights (which have the IR sensors in them). On top of that you still need the camera module, etc. so the whole thing will be very costly.
Something I'm looking at doing on my upcoming 2015 E63 which no longer offers night vision, is to install an aftermarket night vision system from FLIR. The black and white camera costs about $2,700 and then the rest will be labor plus maybe a module to get an extra input to my head unit. This might be a more sensible option for your S-Class.
They also have cameras going up to $5,500 that offer a color thermal image and zoom features.
For HUD- I'm not sure if that requires a new upper dashboard since HUD has the cutout in the steering bump. If it does- that will be a lot of labor to remove.
In my humble option- especially if you bought the car new, you probably would be better off buying (or ordering) a 2015 with those options already. It would save a ton of headache in terms of installing things afterwards.

I'm afraid the windshield is different with HUD too. From EPC one can find a part for options 463 + 596 + 610 and a different part for 596 + 610 (the same without Night View).
The instrument panel itself seems to be the same with and without HUD, just the cover on top of the cluster is different.
Finding the parts and installing those is not sufficient. One would quite likely need an expert like MBenzNL to take care of the version coding on a MY 2014 car.

Could this after market device be a good alternative to factory installed HUD? I just saw this today.
