Oil change reminder reset
I just changed oil at 40,000 mi. The reminder reset procedure wont work. I put ign in pos. #1, go to trip menue , press OK, press ans phone button and immediatluy press and hold OK. I wait and wait. wont pop up the workshop menu. Had awful time last time but it wont do it this time.. Had doors closed, Hood closed etc. did it by the book.. What could I be doing wrong?
Also, there is a reservoir in the center of the top of the engine, I thought brake fluid but the cap just says dont remove when hot.. Cant find the brake fluid reservoir if that is not it..The reservoir on top of engine I assme is coolant but there is also one on the fender. I assume it is a high point so there is no airlock problem.

2. CAUTION: Top of Engine, That is for TURBO cooling system. Same fluid for Radiator.
3. Radiator Fluid Passenger Fender Side.
Just a suggestion.... Read the OM. 40K, you need to have fluids serviced. Only a few items you can do yourself if you ARE FAMILIAR WITH WORKING ON CARS, Oil Change, Brake Pads, Rotors, Brake Bleeding, Suction and Fill Power Steering. These cars are VERY Complex......
Based on your comments on locations of basic fluids, you should take your car to a professional. Example, if you get air into any of the systems by attempting do flush / replace fluids: Turbo, Radiator.....You could destroy major components of your engine or the entire engine. If you put the wrong fluids in the wrong spot... Oh Boy....
I'm not saying you are not capable, but, your questions above show you may want to go to a professional.

Has to be on the default trip/mileage screen, if so it should work.
Brake fluid is under the plastic on the drivers side. Twist the locking fasteners 90 degrees and pull it up, then it's there.

Great, Thanks for the replies. I have driven MB since 1975 and have done most of my own service including trans. fluid changes. I had never seen a turbo cooler reservoir before so I of course asked before I assumed. The manual with the car is useless for maintenance. This site is great.
As for brake fluid flush, I always replace what is in reservoir every year. The new fluid will mix with the old and effectivly keep it fresh and quite free of moisture.
As for power steering fluid, There is none with the electrical servos now used.
Got mileage reminder set too. I was using keyless go instead of the key. Also I didnt have proper window open. I noticed it didnt ask for oil spec.
Thanks again guys.. I appreciate it.

You can do it with keyless go, but you have to go fully on, then back off, then it will go to "position 1". You should see just two or three lights on the dash, not fully off. It's much simpler with just the key in.
No need to have the window down for the reset, not sure where that comes from.

The wrong window or screen is what was causing me my problems. It needs to be the window or screen that has the trip milage and the Total miles on the car on the same window..
