I'm posting this poll to help HSCLA, and others than have mentioned their new S560 has much more interior cabin noise than their previous S550 (2014-2017), etc. If you also have noticed this, please vote in the Poll.

You can read more in depth about this here:

Hey Jason,
Good to see you frequenting the W222 forum. Are you planning to make the jump from your W221 soon?

No one is contributing because only two people on this forum have said they own a 2018.

Can we hear more from the person who didn’t observe greater exterior noise penetration on a 2018 S Class?
Did the 560 sound exactly the same to you, quieter? How long did you drive the 560? City streets, freeway, both?

thanks for answering.

Not yet. I only have 26k miles on it and it's mint. I love that car and the exterior since the day I saw it. Maybe, maybe I can grow to love it, but not yet... I do approve of the newer updates.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I wanted to find current opinions now that some years have passed.

Is the 2018 S 560/(450?) louder than 2015-2017 S550, a few units, or the entire facelift model?

I had a pre-facelift S550 , and now a facelift S560. My experience is the complete opposite in fact (S560 is more quite), however my S560 now has 19” AMG wheels on non-run-flat winter tires now, whereas my former S550 had the 20” AMG wheels with non-run-flat all-season tires. Both had the AMG exterior package. My S560 has the semi-aline leather interior if that natters, while my former S550 had the Nappa leather.

I wonder if the interior trim level matters, or wheel sizes. I hardly doubt they made major structural changes or insulation downgrades? The S560 sounds dead silent in my case, I even hardly hear the car-wash when I enter the tunnel.

What year is your 560? I think they may have had some teething issues with the 2018s. I remember Streamliner said his 2020 was quieter than his 2018.

I had an issue with the door seal/window run in mine when it was new, but that was replaced and it’s very quiet now.

Mine is a 2018 33K miles, but it is a late build 2018 MY (May 2018).... What is teething? I have the full service history and nothing was done related to trims or noises. Vehicle is really dead-silent on highways against wind at very high-speed (tried it up to 90MPH).

Meaning when they first rolled out the 2018s they had some issues with wind noise they solved.

I see. It might have been for earlier-mid production dates. My 2018 with May production date is dead silent against road noise. Thanks for the info

Presently 19 S560 SEDAN, 2014 XK, SOLD GLE 450e
Depends on several things. Like a 20" wheel/tire most likely will be noiser than a 18-19" wheel rim. Been there and done the change from 20" rims to 18" rims/tires. Much less road noise with 18" rims/tires. Did that on a CL550.
