The interior is everything. LOL

I wonder if they look at the forums and see everyone's fright and go back to a previous but unapproved design.

I mean - one slab of straight wood is all the dash is going to get? And two screens? That's luxury? Give me a break.

Exactly. Also there are those that actually believe more tech equals luxury. That's where the disconnect is occurring. Less opulence and more interior lighting choices along with an obnoxious screen.

In total agreement.

I know design is subjective but I would hope that the overwhelming majority would say this

looks a lot richer than this: (NEW PICTURE ALERT)

wow. thanks, brad, for the new interiour picture. why wouldn't benzo put the 'map' bit closer to the top of the ipad screen instead of so far down where you have to take your eyes of the road to check the routing. probably configurable, i'm guessing - but still ,,, and the driver's screen looks like the new gle suv set-up with the horizontal air vents flanking the flat screen. hmmmmmm.

Plus - the seats look straight out of a GLE Class. The leather doesn't look rich at all. What's going on? I hope these pics are all BS.

100% without a doubt. Interesting time for MB high line vehicles. Feels like we're at a tipping point.

80k instead of 125k.

All the bells and whistles.
I think the 2020 G90 is the best answer.

Sure, Asian ingenuity at its height. I just can't even compare that to any S. IMO it's quite hideous.

Admittedly, the screens were tiny compared to what we see predicted in the W223, but I must say that using the touch screen in those Lexus cars was MUCH easier than dealing with Command. Of course, there were fewer features back then, but I would easily take a touch screen NAV, with regular buttons, switches & knobs for most everything else, over the current Command system. Just sayin.
I'm exactly the opposite. I hate smudging the screens and I have to take my eyes off the road far more when dealing with the zoom-in and zoom-out controls on a touch screen. I love only having to move my fingers slightly to zoom in and out, simple pull back or push forward to get to certain features. And I will certainly get angry if they move that little wheel to turn the volume up and down.

Actually, it will probably be a great car. Not an S Class, but great, especially when you figure in price. That grill? That’s another story. The Koreans should watch Germany more than Japan.

I can tell you as a fact that the majority of S Class owners, at least here in the UK, would never look at that as an alternative. Its missing features I had in my 20 year old CL600. I do understand the appeal to some though, its starting to become typical for the people who move out of S Class' and the likes to Lexus' and Hyundais.

They really need bigger fenders, bring back some flair. I really don't think I will ever sell this car. I just think it's a timeless design and newer cars start to look like everything else and seem to age faster. I'm talking exterior design.

I'm not a brand snob, nor a car snob. I do love cars, and I don't really care what other people think I drive, but even in my case given my age and the "alleged" lack of real brand loyalty, I can't see myself in a Genesis G90, ever.

I literally saw a Genesis the other day and thought things that I'm too embarrassed to even say publicly on a forum, let alone in real life. However, Genesis has a way to go. Sorry. As silly as the W223 is purported to look like, I'd still rather get one of those than a G90, despite the price premium as well.

A Genesis G90 versus an E class? Now we're talking. However, as a flagship car, the G90 has a ways to go. The dang thing doesn't even ride on air suspension (I can notice the differences) and from a sound perspective it's as noisy as an E class, let alone an S class despite the dual pane windows.

It's a work in progress - a dang fine work in progress, but it's not ready for this segment yet.

Well, I agree and disagree. Genesis loaned me a new G90 Ultimate model for an extended test drive over a weekend. I drove the car a lot and found it to be VERY quiet. Now, this was a V8 model and the V6 might not be as quiet. I did find the suspension lacking and missed the wood steering wheel and massage seats in my S Class. Their version of the MB Distronic system did not work as well. I did appreciate that there was a knob, button or switch to operate most everything, as well as being able to operate the same items through the Command system. I so much appreciated the LACK of an all glass roof. The current G90 has an enormous trunk, with a jack & spare under the trunk floor, but I understand that this will be deleted in the new G90, which is a shame. All in all, I would drive a G90 way before an E Class. But, I too will admit to liking the look of that 3-pointed star sitting atop the hood of my S560 and would not change based on cost alone. I don't think I will ever move downmarket, but I certainly may move up, as the new Bentley seems to be tugging at my heart strings. Can't wait to drive one.

Thanks for the opinion and yeah I'm not a 'car fanatic' that will instantly go and dismiss people's opinion because I love car 'x'. So certainly, thanks for sharing.

Here's my dilemma. Genesis will not allow for a 'discount' off of MSRP. With Audi/MB/BMW, I can get 7% off of MSRP at least with thousands of dollars of rebates back for an executive car allowance, and being a member of society A, etc. When all was said and done, I could buy a 7 series or A8 at the price of a Genesis G90.

That's when the Genesis went out the door for me!

Wow! It was in Dec. of 2017 that they loaned me that car and the deals available were sensational, with huge discounts. In addition, they were doing these deals where they had "demos" with maybe 200 miles on them, that they were just about giving away. How things change.

here is a spy shot of the new c-class interiour. and we know the other models follow the s-class. so - this ought to give you and *idea* of how the s will roll out. admittedly - it's just directional - and am sure the s will be a bit more advanced - but - as i say - it is directionally-correct. and apparently most of the benzo line is going this way. with a few tweaks here and there.

Porsche has done a very nice job on the Taycan integrating numerous screens IMO.

Wether one likes it or not, display screens are part of the latest tech in cars and the S-Class will have them.

The Bentley (which is quite beautifully inside out) doesn’t have to bother being high-tech due to their niche but it will be the same on their next gen models.

Recent conversations confirm the S-Class center screen but a bit nicer than photo shopped in this thread

Pretty hideous in my opinion. Again, tech does not necessarily equate to luxury and style. Well, if this the future so be it. Perhaps the screen can show a wood veneer?
