Arrow driving from Seattle to Sacramento this weekend - what to see?

hey guys, I'm getting my E55 this weekend in Seattle and the wife and I are driving it home to Sacramento - most likely down I5 since it's relatively a straight shot... but we have a few days.

what should we see along the way?

We were thinking of stopping in Portland as one of the stops...

the last time we were up I-5 we went to Bend,OR so this is a new route for us (in many years)

any suggestions?

I have done that drive many times, as I went to school in Phoenix for a year and then Irvine for three. Honestly, I would say that you need move over and get on the 1 (PCH). I know it added a bit of time to my trip when I was driving to Southern California, but since you are only going to Sacramento, it shouldn't be too bad. The Oregon coast is actually quite nice, and there are plenty of fun roads--put the 55 through the paces!

Seriously, after Portland, I-5 is really BLEH. I do say you should go to Portland, but then shoot over to the coast.

I agree with the above. I drive up and down I5, and there really isn't much to see unless your around Shasta area, Portland Columbia River area. But the Coast is where it's at. Beautiful coast from Washington to SoCal.
