Question about Evosport Underdrive Pulley

........Is there still a benefit from the Evosport underdrive pulley if your airconditioner is turned off when you are in the staging lane at the dragstrip?

Evosport UD pulleys do not underdrive A/C. Only Power Steering, Water Pump and Alternator.

No, we have over seveeral hundered kits out in the field and no problems. Water pumps have a very wide rpm range where their efficiency is high enough to keep engine cooling in check.

Since the motor have to spend LESS energy to move the OTHER parts.... MORE HP are AVAILABLE to MOVE THE CAR! heheheheheheh

is just an OPTIMIZATION of the LOSSES!!!!!!

My brother has EVOsport pullies on his C43, and on his way back from Arizona (to California) the pulley belt snapped on the 55 and he was left stranded. Not meaning to deface EVO at all, just want to let you know that he did have an issue, and this happened approximately 8,000 miles after the purchase of the pulley. Another belt was purchased from EVO and there have not been any issues since.

evosport changed the design of the pulley, before I think it didn't have a lip or something, now it does.

Call evosport to verify.

when i ordered it i did verify i said listen dont get me out on the road and these things just snap or break..of course i was assured they are ok they have to move product out the door..anyway i think the cl500 kit is very simple so i am hoping they wont strand me somewhere as that is my biggest automotive fear....im wondering if the evosport guy can jump back in here and just say something.

Any belt can snap. Just make sure the kit is installed properly and everything is aligned as it should be.

...............Just wanted to add that I had the undersrive pulleys installed. Mechanic said that the pulley belt it came with was too short so they used an oem mercedes belt.......no problem car drove fine. Drove 500 miles and developed belt noise. Noise got louder and when inspected, innner portion of belt was shreaded. Not knocking evosport or mercedes, but something to keep in mid if you do this mod. You may wish to carry an extra belt in your trunk for those out of town trips. For me, my car is plenty fast already, so although I am happy with the evosport pulleys, it was probably not worth the hassle in my specific case.

totally unacceptable in my mind. my evosport pulley caused similar problems with belt shredding and such. The Renntech pulley that I later installed caused zero problems after many thousands of miles. The Renntech pulley is a modified stocker and that is why it worked much better than the new pulley that Evosport tried to produce. I had the first generation pulley from evosport but the newer ones may have fixed the earlier issues.

If the pullies are shredding belts, etc, then possibly the pullies are not aligned properly. Possibly the power steering pulley was not pressed on far enough and its causing the belt not to track straight. Check the workmanship of the mechanic before you blame the workmanship of the pullies! I have had my pullies on now for almost 65k and havent had one problem with belts or anything!

OK I have A QUESTION:

Will a Underdrive evoport pulley kit with belt from a 00' ML 320 fit on an 01' ML 55 ???
I was told YES by Dale a general questions guy at Evosport and NO by some other sales guy at the same company. This was all over the phone, Dale assured me that they would fit that its bascially the same engine. what are your guys thought. Thanks!

Most likely he was referring to the configuration of the water pump, alternator, power steering pump and belt size in relation to both motors. Just because one car has a 8 cylinders doesn't mean that the rest of the components are specific to that car. Car companies try to design cars so that their parts can be used across several models in order to keep design and production costs lower.

I don't remember in relation to the belt, but I know the pulleys themselves can work on both models.
