Installed Sprint Booster on my CLK 200!

Well, after reading about all the threads for Sprint Booster I decided to get one for myself and all I can say is VERY COOL

Here are my observations after a day's driving:

PROs:

1) It feels like I have a lot more torque now and at lower RPMs. My Kompressor engine now feels more hurried

2) No noticable drop in mpg consumption. Maybe I'll wait a few more days to confirm this but I wouldn't mind a small drop as a trade-off for that extra power.

CONs (possible):

1) The Kompressor sounds a lot more audible now at lower RPMs. I actually sorta like this as it makes my CLK sound more aggressive but some people might think otherwise.

2) In the automatic transmission "S" mode the pedal now becomes more sensitive and the gear shifts sometimes a little jerky and not as smooth as before. Some people might be turned off by this but having previously driven a BMW with SMG, I am used to this. In "C" or comfort mode though, it seems to shift smooth enough. Haven't tried to shift gears manually though.

Well that's all for now. I'll try it for a couple more days then take it off to see if there any more differences.

Sprint booster

Hi Nerv,

Thank for the info.
I was thinking to get one for myself too but i wait for the comment on the spring booster.
My bro has a BMW serie 5 E60 and i can see teh result, it is very nice, but i noticed that the engine roars so much and the RPM is always high.

But the acceleration is very good.
i will try later on as apparently i have a good comment on the sprint booster.
by the way as i can see YOUR car is in THAILAND right ?

by teh way did ur car has the COMAND APS too? as i can see in teh picture.

by teh way how much did u get for the Sprint booster and where did u get it.

THX

Hi Sorata,

Yes, my engine roars a lot too but RPM doesn't go that high altough it does tend to be jerky as mentioned.

I don't have a COMAND APS as it would've cost me an additional 200K baht. I got my Sprint Booster from RPM in Thonglor

Engine sounds normal but if you do a hard acceleration it will tend to roar...let's just say that you will hear it roar more times than not. There is no specific sprint booster for CLK- just ask for the generic Mercedes Benz one.

I was planning to get a COMAND, but now I'm just planning to add Cleansweep + JL Audio amp + Focal Utopia speakers instead as I really don't see the need to add COMAND anymore

hey nerv im also from bkk, thailand! i currently drive a c200 brabus and im going to put in the sprint booster next week! we'll soon see a reply from me. and hey, i wanted to ask that with the sprint booster on a 200 kompressor engine, will the car loose traction when i step on the gas all the way?
p.s. the retailer here says that if anyone who's not satisfied with the result can get a refund. this statement of his should mean that i will be satisfied sure sure!!

I doubt the car will lose traction so easily especially with the restrictive ESP always on and the torque isn't that powerful to begin with. But you will hear your engine roar a lot especially if you got one of those sporty exhausts.

I just installed the sprintbooster on my C32 AMG, and all I have to say is, WOW....its unbelievable....In regards to the ESP, I always drive with mine off, I think it's more fun that way....When it is off, I start to lose traction from a launch and occasionally from a roll at around 10-15 mph. The engine definitely does seem to roar a little bit more and the exhaust note is a little more noticeable. In a C200 brabus, i dont think you will be losing traction, especially if you drive with ESP on. If you really want to burn outs and lose traction, just put the car in dyno mode when you put the sprintbooster on and try that

does this sprint booster thing actually work? it doesn't add more hp to the car so what does it do to make it so great?

It DOES NOT add more horsepower to the car, though it may seem that it did. It is some little cable looking thing that installs behind the pedal assembly, which you take apart. It basically helps reduce the lag you feel when you floor the gas pedal, which means that is greatly increases your throttle response. It will respond much quicker. It seems to accelerate much fast than before, the shifts seem to be a little faster, and even when I do shift it, it seems to actually be at higher RPMs than it normally would be at before I installed it. Overall, I absolutely love it. It is a whole different car with it installed. Here are couple threads that will explain everything you want to know about sprintbooster:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=sprint

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=sprint

I hope those help. The first couple are better than the last one though.

Dyno Mode

Basically, dyno mode turns off all of the ESP. It will not kick in at all. When i do this, i lose traction on everything when i want to....launchs, turns, and it is useful for drifting. I think you just turn the key to position 1 and press the reset button 3 times quickly. This gave me the voltage diag screen. I was able to "menu" through and then engage dynoe mode. When you start the car, it will probably say that ABS/ESP and one other function (I forget the acronym at this moment) were all disabled. I tested this by pressing the throttle fully to the floor and holding it there. You should see a difference. If for some reason you are unable to get this menu after pushing the button three times quickly, try this. Put the key into position one. Then, push and hold that reset button for about 45 seconds to a minute, and then the menu should pop up.

Any other drive by wire options other than sprint booster

Sorry for the thread resurrection but didn't want to add another thread. I have a sprint booster for my E500 for some time and love it.

My question is are there any other companies that make this or do these guys have it all to themselves? I could see the possiblity that someone else has a similar product that performs somewhere between stock signal and the direct drive by wire that they provide.

Anyone see any other options?
