2006 SL65
New SL 65 Owner looking to mod.
Greetings all, I have been lurking for a while, and finally registered when I picked up my silver 2006 SL 65. Love the car, the mixture of performance and luxury is heavenly.
I have been searching for mods that will impact the 65 in s significant manner. I have conversed with Renntech, and Kleeman. I am not sure that I have bought into the value of the Renntech bits I would be upgrading, ECU+TCU+Airbox=$11,950.00, mufflers=3495, intercooler another 4K. So roughly $19,500.00 and labor at $140/hour..... The value equation is tough for me.
Spoke with Kleeman, they said the car is strong at factory spec, and that they could flash my ECU for $4,500. This would deliver same results as Renntech tune.
I am certain that many of you know this vehicle far better than I. I have done a few searches, but have not found anything detailed about performance mods for the SL 65. I would love any posts you might refer me to, or shops to call. Feel free to PM me, and I'll call you direct. I want to pull the trigger on something this week, and don't want to make a poor decision.

Any AMG Thats Around..
i would start with the RennTech ECU/TCU usually thats enough to knock your socks off..... RennTech is always more money then the rest, major time consuming R&D and being able to back their products with a warranty has to show in the price somewhere....

I think that you will kick yourself in the end, your in Fort myers so a drive to this side is roughly two and a half hours from you to renntech. I have an 04' Sl 600 stage 2 and a 05' Cl 65 stage 2 BOTH by Renntech. Dont make money an option, Look at reputation and Customer Service. These guys know Mercedes Benz Like no other and are the benchmark in the industry. Besides if You can afford a 200K. car. Then why would you be so concerned about Spending an extra few bucks to get the best there is? Why didnt you get a corvette and supercharge it? ya know. Oh p.s. Where is the closest Kleeman Deaker to you? Good luck with the modding and If you still are not convinced I can arrange for you to drive a Rennteched Sl 65. I live in fort lauderdale and a neighbor of mine is also obsessed with renntech His sl 65 is fully Rennteched as well as his black 08' clk 63 black.

2003 S600
I had an 05 SL65 that RENNtech did the ecu/tcu upgrade on. It was a true beast. I chose RENNtech because they are 15 minutes from me. I definitely won't knock Kleeman, they're just not right here. That counts quite a bit for me. RENNtech also did my S600. Surprisingly fast for a big car!!
