Exhaust upgrade CLS550
Hi everyone..
I have an '09 CLS550 and I would like to simply 'open' up the exhaust and get it to sound more like a CLS63.
I have seen lots of different ways to do this.. who can advise on the easiest and least expensive way without tearing my car apart to do it?
Thanks!!!

Hey there,
Did you ever get a response? I'm in the same category and although I don't want to race the car, wouldn't mind if it sounded a bit more aggressive. So much potential, but the stock exhaust is too muted. Love the C63 sound, sounds like a boat.
Any suggestions on mufflers tuned for our cars? Any web links that you've come across?
Cheers

Hi.. no I never got a response from anyone.
I looked into getting a sport exhaust system from Brabus, but its very expensive. To the tune of about $3,500.
Yeah I here ya.. all I want to do is the same as you.
I'm thinking about taking to a local muffler shop and asking them
Let me know if you find anything out also

Right, no chance of spending that much. We don't need to replace the whole system, just need a couple of mufflers. Problem is that Indy's carry domestic Magnaflow type units that are generally too loud/droney for a special tuned car.
I'm found a performance muffler shop that has fitted a few CLSs and will start shopping around locally. Let you know what model mufflers may be an option for us.

Have you guys thought about these inexpensive catbacks from ebay?

I have never seen or heard one installed but even if they sound horrible, at least they can be used as a platform to improve upon- install some other mufflers and tune them.

installing some other muffler will cost as much if not more than this entire catback. get a set of decent mufflers and spend just a little more money at a reputable shop, get a proper exhaust, in the end will be much happier.
Get a set of AMGs remove secondary cats and do X pipe. wont be disappointed. for louder note remove resonators.

I did a resonator delete on my CLS. Sounds AMAZING when accelerating but absolutely quiet when cruising/idling.
