No problems with emissions. You will have more noise which may or may not be a bad thing.

Smart move not believeing your friend. The resonator is really just a muffler, a perforated tube with something to act as a sound absorber.

Depending on your car and other modifications you may see a couple of HP and you will loose a good bit of weight.

I don't like "loose weight", it makes rattles!

I think the weight saving will be insignificant.

You might not gain horsepower, sometimes a change in back pressure can make things worse.... not always, but it has happened.

Anyway, the horsepower change should also be insignificant.

Yes, there was an extra O up there. Loose is never good.

If I remember correctly the resonator was surpsingly heavy.

change in backpressure usually results in a little loss off the line, but better response high end.

good... louder, less backpressure (high end), less restriction
bad..... louder, less backpressure (low end)

depends on what you want to have happen.

x166 resonator delete question

2015 GL550
Would like to delete the resonator to get a bit more sound out of this big air pump. All I hear is rushing air (slightly open tailgate with cargo too big to fit) WOT=Wooooosh, no growl!

I have read a lot of threads on resonator delete on several MBZ models. Has anyone done the resonator delete on a X166? If so, does it "drown" at highway speeds?
Made this mistake with a v6 & Flowmaster setup, BAD...

Just want to make sure it will still be quiet at cruising speeds (10-80mph)??? Just bark more at WOT?

HAS ANYONE DONE A RESONATOR DELETE ON A X166 GL550?

experienced advice appreciated
Thanks

If you want more sound, remove the resonator(s). There may be more than one, the more you remove, the louder it gets.
You won’t feel any difference in terms of power.

I have a CLK 500 with M113. I looked at a sport muffler, but fitment was a pain, so I swapped in a Vibrant performance resonator. It worked great. Yes a little louder, but it sounds WAY better, and no drone.

Best $50 ever. https://smile.amazon.com/Vibrant-Per...TPI/ref=sr_1_4
