Star Diag Shop in SoCal?

Does anybody know of a MB dealer or independent shop with Star Diag machine who is willing to program ECUs? I plan on installing bi-xenon on my 05 W211 and need the xenon enabled in the ECU.

I am in Orange County, southern California area.

Thanks!

Stephen

MB Stars in Walnut has a Star Diag, you can contact Michael or Albert at 626.913.0780, both formerly with Penske Motors.

I am still trying to figure out why version coding or reprogramming is needed with Xenon install, other than to eliminate the "Faulty Lamp" warning message. The Xenon is also 12 volts, drawing LESS amps than halogen. The computer might detect less amps and confuse it with a faulty bulb. But as long as 12 volts is present, the Xenon ballast will work just fine.

But in some vehicles daytime running lights will run the headlights at half power (6v), which will cause ballast to flicker or even damage it. This is the only reason I could think of which a reprogramming might be needed, to disable DRL completely. Unless if the computer does something weird like shutting off the power when it detects faulty lamp.

I upgraded Xenon headlight two months ago, and nothing wrong with them.

What year is your E320? What type of Xenon system did you install? (OEM or retrofit kit?)

Thanks.

I think only the newer W211 needs to get version coded. I wonder if anybody installed a xenon on a W211 without version coding.

Actually my info was a little off, its still bergwerks, but they are in longbeach now. They ran out of space at the old place. Steve's number there is: 818 716 7589

Motorwerks is their Michigan branch (the one I go to )

Nothing MB related (sorry)
When retrofitting xenons in a W210 (or W208), one does not have to reprogramm the car to 'xenons = present'. However, if one wants to upgrade to (bi) xenons in a W211 or W203, it MUST be done.

If you do NOT reprogramm your car, the headlights will only flicker. More info can be found in this link:

http://www.mbenznl.com/products/xenon.shtml

All info is not yet completed, but check out the W203 section.

greetingz,

BigSis
