Would you go to a Wagon after the R?

Our 27 month lease is just about completed, I love the room in our R class, however I figured that the wife, and mostly me, would enjoy having a E55 wagon. We used to have a B5 S4 wagon, and loved it, however the maintenance is through the roof on that car. Now I know most will say that the E55 is worst, but I've got a co-worker who's lease is also almost over on his E55 Wagon, and would sell it to me for pennies on the dollar. I would of course have him extend the warranty before I take over the vehicle, but what are your thoughts on going from the R to a wagon?

To each his own my friend. I personally enjoy the styling of the R more than its practicality with my 4 kids. A wagon is nice and I seriously considered one at my time of purchase, but the R's overall uniqueness and panoramic roof quickly changed my mind. Not to mention, they look killer on 20" OZ Canyons

You cannot compare a dry prune with a pumpkin. The E55 is super fast compared with the R and the extra luggage space is simply an after thought. The low profile tires have to be changed every 18,000 miles if you drive the car as it should and not lose your license. I know. I owned one and drove it properly. Cops are such a nuisance.

If you want utility in a MB buy the R or GL with the diesel option. You will save so much in fuel costs. If you have a big family like me buy a Suburban with bench seats (can seat 9) instead. I drove from Toronto to Florida in total comfort, with air-con blasting full speed and averaged 16 mpg with 5 people and all their baggage.

And it is so safe. My wife ran over a Jetta and totalled it. Repairs to the Suburban was $5,000 plus but the hood did not even pop up. Strong as an ox.

Compare what insurance will cost you first.

I love Kombi's but the R I think is a great deal since you get the room of a wagon but for the US market you can get 4matic with the CDI motor

R's seem to be a great buy too since it is a love or hate appearance, I think they are really unique

2008 R350 & 2008 C300
Depends on your needs. Do you need 4matic, six or seven seats, great cargo room with the third row folded, then you need to go with the R or a GL. If you want to go fast and burn holes in your pockets replacing the tires and fuel then by all means get the E55 wagon. Ha ha you know you can't compare these two, they both have a different purpose. Now if you were comparing say a R63 and a E63 or an R with an E wagon, then it would be more matched.

R350 4-matic
Um, no.

Give up my R for a wagon...I don't think so, no matter how cheap the wagon is.

Absolutely - it is like comparing a dry prune with a giant pumpkin, or an apple and an orange.

The R-320 CDi is the best deal with 4 Matic and 7-G transmission.

Good performance.
Good all weather vehicle with great mileage.
Great price for a 7 person transporter and it is made in America.

No doubt the E55 wagon will cost a lot more than the R (unless it is a R63).
