Yearly oil changed?
My 08 R350 has 3,900 miles on odometer. My R will be in one year in May 2009.
My Service Advisor told me that I should have oil changed once a year regarless the mileage or Computer trip indicate(13,000 miles total before oil change)
Any suggestion.
Thanks,

Depends on the oil in it
If you use the proper oil as recommended by MB, you go between 10 to 15,000 kms between changes. (which is a good thing because it takes 8 litres of the stuff).
None of this really matters if you just pay attention to the sophisticated service messages - which pop up on your menu display - and which automatically customize the service intervals - baseed on your driving habits (ie. fully warm between trips, trip length, time since last oil change and mileage since - etc).

Ah the line from the good ol' Jiffy lube.
First and foremost synthetic oils don't need changed frequently. But even if the car required conventional oil, 3,000 miles is way too soon to change it when most manufacturers require a change every 6,000 unless of course the car is used under extreme conditions. When I take my Jeep Grand Cherokee for an oil change, I always love the look of the employees when they lecture me about changing the oil and I respond that the manufacturer says otherwise... If I have to decide between the word of Jiffy lube and Chrysler, I will believe Chrysler first...

the car is designed to last 1 year between oil changes. The synthetic oil and the special oil filter are setup for this timeline. If you want to avoid any warranty issues, just change it according to the schedule. Don't take your car to jiffy lubes or any other oil change centers. If you are, make sure you buy your own oil filter for them to use and don't use the ones that they sell.

Buy them a sealing washer for the drain plug, too, as they are NOT reusable.
Also watch them VERY closely as they remove/reinstall the underneath engine cover, as they'll likely screw something up.

just to be safe, don't go to jiffy lube! Either go to dealership or go to a mercedes certified repair shop. At least they know about the fiber oil filter and don't look at you like you have two heads when you mention it. I called around when my R needed it's oil filter and one shop, not certified, was trying to tell me that they would order a K&N filter and that it was better than the original mercedes filter. I had to explain to them that K&N filters are not designed to last a year and they're not approved for MB use and that they're crap to begin with on anything other than american hot rods. He didn't know what I was talking about.

After moving and traveling for some side work I was doing, your on-board will really adjust to your driving characteristics. Some long miles at constant throttle eat up your "service miles", as well as hard acceleration and "performance" driving!

Drive harder, and watch the miles come off quickly. Your car will tell you when you need to pay attention to it. This is good and bad.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I will have oil changed at leat once a year regarless mileage.
My 2007 Acura RL tells me when the oil will be changed (A1, A2, B1 B2 etc...) but no mileages indication (around 5K - 6K with conventional oil 0W20)

Your car will tell you to change the oil after a year, even if you have tons of miles left. It counts the days (but you can't view that for some reason). Once there are 30 days left it will show the days. The guy saying 3 months 3k miles is completely clueless. And if you really don't believe this stuff, then send an oil sample to a lab. Usually costs around $20 and they send you a detailed report.
