Alpine Rain Metallic (kind of a silly question)

OK, so we're thinking about checking out an R-Class to replace my wife's Grand Cherokee (need the extra room). A dealer about 70 miles from us has a CPO Alpine Rain metallic one with every option we are looking for at a good price.

My question is this: Is the Alpine Rain Metallic more of a silver or a baby blue? Every ad I look at leads me to believe it's more of a silver, but it kind of looks like a baby blue in others. I don't want to drive all the way there just to find out it's a color we won't like.

My E500 4Matic is Brilliant Silver metallic and we both really like it. I just can't see a baby blue car in our garage

Silver blue, more blue than silver. I love it. We are looking at a Pewter but prefer white. Both wifey and I hate black and ash/grey interiors so that rules out a lot of MBs. Germans seem to like their national silver on black.

I love the british tan, cream, and biscuit interiors. Light and airy. Here is a Bentley with a gorgeous interior, MB can't come close IMHO.

Mine is Alpine Rain. Also called Lazurite Blue.

In 2006 it was an extra cost option (metallic paint).

It's beautiful in the same way as that soft aqua green they combined with tan leather that reminded me immediately of the beaches of Florida and sea.

One of the most desirable colors you can get! People have complemented me on it at drive throughs.

I'm posting a pic. of a particularly nice one from Texas.

It's more of a metallic columbia blue. It's really good looking and is not found that often out and about.

Alpine rain looks very nice. Much nicer than just silver. It's my second choice. White still my primary choice.

Actually, the lighting plays a big part on how it looks... Sunny day - you can see the blue. Dull day, appears closer to silver.

The ads I've seen for Alpine Blue Rs turned me off to the color. However, I've recently seen a few on the road and the color looks great.

Accessory brochure for the GL has this color GL on the cover ... but they've never acually sold one or offered the color on GLs.

IMHO, the color MBUSI (mercedes/alabama) should offer is Flint Metallic Grey.

We have an 07 with that color and my wife loves it. I was not sold on it at first but after putting wheels on it I think it is a really sharp looking car. The color is different depending on the light. We get compliments on it all the time. This car is really nice in any color. Good luck.

Unlike Silver, people either loves or hates the Alpine Blue and not many people in the middle. I would definitley go check it out yourself.

Personally, I like Black(mine) or Silver.

Thanks for all the replies. We still haven't made it to the dealer, but I do think it's worth taking a look at either way. Now if I can just sync everyone's schedules so we have enough time to actually make it down there, we'll be heading in the right direction.
