hello,
i am looking at 07 r500 with just 7000 miles with almost all imaginable options. it really does have every available options, except the 19 inch wheels option. other than this, it is fully loaded.
it is a private party and he is asking $31,900. the owner says that it stickered at $68k.
what should i be looking for and what should i pay?
thanks in advance.

The price he's asking for seems pretty fair, but if you could, try pushing for $30-$31k.

Make sure you get "a sale inspection" at a local MB dealer before signing. Even though it is still under warranty, it is better to do that. + list all options, $68K sounds low. If it had all options it should have been around $75K, which suggests that it is not fully fully loaded.Originally Posted by windycitymb

Look at cars.com for R500s in your area and form an opinion, but get me a list of the options and I'll give you my opinion (based on NY/NJ market).

the 07 R500 has 7000 miles, with P2 pkg, Trim, Lighting, Sunroof, Air suspension, Rear DVD Pkg as well as Wood/Leather Steering wheel, 2nd row center console, CD changer with voice recognition. according to the window sticker, it retailed for about $68,500.
went to check it out yesterday and it is in new condition. he's asking $31,9k.
but he says he will move it for $30k. is this a good buy?
also how often do these cars need to be serviced? Edmunds says every 13k miles or 1 year. not sure where to get a service schedule.
are these cars generally reliable? i've had two acuras, three bmws, two lexus...they were very reliable in general.
your input on this is greatly appreciated.
thank you.

We were interested in an '06 R500 with similar options except DVD & it had Keyless Go. It had 30k miles. MSRP was over $70k new.
It sold for between $28k-$29k.
Based on that, I think $30k is great price for a year newer and much less miles.
We passed on that '06 R500 because the VMI sheet showed some expensive looking fixes over its life, some were reoccurring. I loved the "bells & whistles" and the fact that it was a $70k car at one time, but my wife was scared off by the added complexity and risk of repair.

Because of the low miles, fully loaded and it is a 2007 R500, $30K sounds very reasonable. If you can make sure it never involves in any accident, I would say just go for it.
Regarding the car, I have a R500 and it is as reliable as my X5. Not perfect like my Acura's in the past but not bad at all. Regarding service, you should able to google the web and download the R class service manual.
Good luck.
