Importing a R class from the US to Canada?

I've read that some members have imported the R to Canada and just wanted to hear their stories good or bad on their experiences doing it!
Especially MB Canada's roadblocks and exoribant fees for RIV approval!

Thanks John

I had no problem actually. Just got the factory warranty approved yesterday from Mercedes. I had to get the instrument cluster replaced for $1000. That was all. RIV cost $200.

MAKE SURE you get recall clearance directly from Mercedes USA. RIV VERY sticky about it.

I'm aware that our local dealer here in Western Canada regularly does conversions - given the number of rarely seen high end MBs that freshly arrive in the lot (usually 2 door sport jobs like SLs) - bearing US license plates.

I think with a par dollar you can't go wrong even after the cost of change over - and every other brand would do the same ie. require that you take it to the dealer to ensure the necessary Canadian parts are installed.

Prices lately for used Rs seem to have increased slightly - I'm guessing due to smaller supply and higher demand.

what did you pay for the new one? did you go r350 or r500? i am assuming you did not look at any online sources such as auto trader or ebay motors. i have it set up on my mac so the exact model im looking for shows up every time a new one gets listed. its a great setup. i saw an a used r63 on there last week. enjoy your new rig.

Quote on a new "clear out" 2008 R320 back in January 2009 was $61,500 Cdn.
