Changing the instrument cluster to metric ( Canada ) from miles
I recently purchased a 2007 R350 from Portland Oregon and brought it up to Canada. I am able to get the digital speedometer to display Kms. But the analog reading is set on miles. I checked with my local MB dealer and was told that to get the car to Canadian standards would cost about $ 3000. That seems like a lot of money to spend on changing the instument cluster or are there other areas that have to be addressed?
Also what can be done to decrease the rear inside noise?

Funny that's what they quoted me as well ($3,000) . Still a good deal after it's done. They will ensure day-time running lights operate (for example in the US you can switch on the fogs (if so equipped) without any other headlamps operating - but not in Canada).
If you have rear inside noise I'd investigate the title for past accident damage - especially around the tailgate - when the rear door's open look at the tail light tops. Should be no cracking of any of the mounts and the rubber flap should be there intact.

My cost was $1000 for instrument cluster and programming plus $500 to register the warranty.
That's it.
And yes, the R is noisy. More than I expected.

I had my R at the dealer for state inspection, Service C (actually A was done) and enable GPS which I had installed myself so the the cluster can show turn by turn (dealer could not able to activate it).
To make long story short, I picked up my vehicle and entered the highway (speed limit 55 MPH). The needle in speedometer show 100 and it showed in km/H. I then brought back the next morning, the foreman re programed and it showed MPH now.
Here are the pics. in km/H and MPH.
Bad part is: When you are driving 160 kmh, the needle will be at full scale.

i bought mine from Chicago and converted it about 1.5 years ago. cost was around $3000. mine is 2006, mb canada gave me warranty til end of 2009, which i used to fix sunroof and pully/belt noise. I thought the money was well spent since they took down the whole roof and replaced some parts, but, it only lasted a few until i went on a rocky ski trip. Now, my Canadian warranty expired, i am experiencing some sort of noise whenever i make a left turn. CV joint/transmission wore out? anyone has the same problem? I am scared of how much it would cost to repair. If i bring my car back to mb usa dealership, would they cover it under warranty? anyone know?

The knock in the front end when turning is a problem with the R-Class.
I have same problem.
Bringing mine in before warranty expires.

Try stopping, cut the wheel left or right and then accelerate.
