AC Problem?

The AC in my R500 is definitely not as cold as last year and can take more than 10 minutes to get cool. I called the dealer about it and just to check the AC system will set me back about $250.

My question is does R500 need to add refrigerant once in a while or mine is most likely having a leak.

Thanks!

SuperNSX, Do you know of a reliable independent MB mechanic in your area? I recommend calling to see what he would charge for the same service. It is possible you have a leak which would have to be repaired. Good luck with it.

Cabin filters could be plugged...my wife's 06 R350 did not cool very well, and since I just happen to be an AC man, I checked the first thing we always check (well, after power to the unit ) Air flow....her cabin filters must have been the original (we are 3rd owner), and they were nasty plugged....got (2) new ones on ebay for like $20...I got charcoal enriched ones to clean up any odors that might sneak their way in. Put them in, and instant cold...worked for me!

I am going to take my R to the dealership tomorrow to look at the Air Conditioning... I can sense it is going to be $$$$$. Hope my extended warranty is going to cover it. Will let you guys know what the dealer finds out and how much it is going to set us back..

Very easy, actually...there is a thread here in the forums about it. Removed the box under the hood, on the passenger side, by the window...reached in and pulled them out. Stuck the new ones in...had to bend them a little, took me about 15 min to get them back in right, but a lot better than going to the dealer.

Just got back from the dealership and AC is fine with no leak. Just low on refrigerant.

After they add about 1.5 lbs to my R, it is cold again. The test + refrigerant set me back about $230.

AC not working but real is. fuse under driver's dash?

I am trying to check the fuses which stated locating under the dashboard on driver's side but could not find it. R350 has total of 4 fuse boxes. one under the hood - easy. one on pasenger side dash board - easy. one under the trunk - easy. But the one under the driver's side dashboard, I couldn't find it. Does anyone know? my AC doesn't work. It comes out real but not front. weird.
I should have bought Honda Odyssey. It has only 60,000 miles and problem like this. i don't get it.

...there are days when I feel like you do re: Odyssey. That said, when it's driving well, there's NOTHING else like it on the road in terms of comfort, safety, 4x4, and solidness.

Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda.. We can all say that after the fact. For all you know, you could be saying the same thing after had you bought the Honda Odyssey.

I had horrible ownership experience with the Odyssey. You're lucky you're just complaining about the AC and not the transmission.
