I just replaced mine a month ago from Pirelli Assimetrico (not happy) to Conti-Extreme DWS. All I can say is "AWESOME" - quite, smooth, good in cornering. I mean, what can I say. Check tire rack reviews. My opinion.

I have seen people who have 20" wheels on their R's in this forum had no complaints on the harsh ride except 22" wheels.
C/P:
put 20" brabus replica wheels on mine.
I like the ride MUCH better than the stock 18", as it's removed some of the flex from the higher profile sidewall of the stock tires, so the car feels more stable at high speed, especially on twisties. But the ride remains very comfortable. I wish I had gone with a little larger tire to eat up some of the wheel gap
rollsf
If I live in NY with all the pot holes and rough roads, I would not want 20" rims.

Going from 18inches to 20inches is not going to cure body roll. Suspension mods will.
You may want to invest in a good book on race car setup like
Tune to Win: The art and science of race car development and tuning [Paperback]
Carroll Smith
if you want to understand how to setup suspensions. Not blowing smoke here, I used to race SCCA/NASA and BMWCCA. By going to smaller sidewall in a tire, you are going to get a harsher ride, a heavier wheel/tire size and most likely a worse handling car. On top of this your acceleration and deceleration is going to suffer due to the larger inertia of the heavier wheel/tire combination.

2011 R class comes standard with 19" wheels and 20" rims are optional.

I was at the dealer today and the bottom control panel did not have push switches suspension "Sport" or "Comfort". So those R's that I have looked did not have air suspension.(Air bladder to lower or raise up)

The factory can change the suspension by going with a different spring rate or progressive rate springs and different compression/rebound settings on the shocks. Normally when a manufacturer changes the standard tire size on a car, they will adjust to compensate. The floatiness of the ride you sense in your R could be fixed by adjusting the rebound rate of the shock. Not sure if anyone makes adjustable shocks for the R.

Just got the 20" OE Mercedes Alanz rims today by Fed-Ex, I could not believe it weights only 33 lbs. for 20" rim compares with others (35+ Lbs). (Rims made in Italy).
20" OZ Canyon ST rim weights at 35.3 Lbs.

Here are the teasing pics. before and after pre test.

Yes, both rims are Mercedes OEM rims and have same center's cap dimension.
I am not so sure which one to put it on the new rim.
Need your opinion on this.

Personally, I would swap out the cap from the 18" to the new one - but that's my personal preference. Either way, those wheels would look good. They have the three-pointed star to show.

You don't need to wait for pictures. Check out youtube video "R63 @ milan" - it has the R63 with those wheels mounted. Very nice. Good choice - and food for thought for mine too.

I'm finally getting ready to install my 20" rim and about to get new tires. Are you happy with the tires you got for your wheels? Also, did you just reuse the bolts/nuts or did you have to replace those too? Thanks.
