Hands free unit life expectancy?
I have an 08 R 320 with the hands free device.
It's pretty much not working.
How long have any of you gotten from your devices?

seems early
it's under same warranty as your car, isn't your 2008 still under warranty?
Also, I've had mine since 07 on my R, and it still works great, actually better now then when i first got it. I also have the puck in my 2002 ML55, and have had that since about 2007 if I recall correctly, and it works fine too.

we have an '08 with the puck for the bluetooth etc... Anyway my wife said a few months ago that the feature wasn't working. We took it back in under our CPO warranty and they ended up replacing a module with the radio and not the bluetooth puck itself. Hope that helps?

You should update the Iphone firmware to the latest one if you haven't already. There is a known issue with its bluetooth connectivity.
I experienced frequent disconnections with mine after I first got the Iphone. I thought it was my bluetooth puck that was dying. Then I read somewhere in the Iphone forum that there was an issue about its bluetooth.
I haven't had any issue with the hands free calling in my car since the update of the Iphone firmware.

I guess the next step is to confirm where the problem is coming from - your car or your phone. You could try using a different phone with bluetooth connectivity temporarily (for a day or so) just to observe if you still lose hands free calling.
In my case, my wife was never experiencing the same problem that I was having. She wasn't using an Iphone. So that also gave me a clue that it could be my phone that has the problem - and so far it seems that it was the case.
I hope it's just a phone issue. Try those Apple "geniuses" at the Apple store. Let them prove to you that your phone doesn't have a bluetooth connection problem.
In my experience, they'd just replace the phone (esp. it's still under warranty) if they can't solve the problem easily.
Good luck.

Thanks.
Right now, I'm not missing the blue tooth.
With my phone, I'd have to hit 2 or 3 buttons to get it to go to the phone because I don't like talking through the speakers.
Right now, I hit 1 button, the mute, and talk.
It's really not bothering me right now.
